Question about HP PSC 1315 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Hp psc 1315 paper jam

Every time i try to print my psc hp 1315 stop at the halh of the page and give the error "paper jam" but nothing is wrong with it, i check its back......nothing wrong. just stop at the half of page every time.thx for listening. Every time I turn on my HP 1315, it feeds a sheet half way through, then stops, indicating a jam. If I remove this page, place no paper in the feed tray, and after it indicates an error, then select something to print; then put paper into the feed tray; then push the "On/Printer" button - it feeds and prints OK. - for that time.

Any suggestions???

Before all else, I checked the paper feed path, and, after extracting a very small loose piece of paper, checked to make sure there are no obstructions, pieces of paper, or anything to keep a sheet of paper from passing all the way through the feed path.

More info regarding my above problem: Today, if I load paper into the feed tray and turn on the printer, at times the printer appears normally ready, (quickly going to apparently being ready without all the usual noise I used to hear), and without feeding a sheet of paper half way through the paper feed path (as it did before) when paper is already in the paper tray. At other times, I hear a lot of activity in the printer when it is first turned on, which ends up by feeding a sheet from the paper tray half way through the feed path before turning on the error light, and the “stuck” page has to be removed.

If I press the “Black - Start Copy" option on the 1315 printer, a sheet in the paper tray enters the feed path beyond the normal "stopping point" for beginning a print job, and the error indicator comes on. It then does a "scan", but the feed error prevents any printing, and the feed path has to be cleared.

If I turn on the printer without paper in the tray, and wait until the usual activity noise terminates, then put paper into the paper tray, and select to print some pages, the printer works fine until the print job is through. It then ejects the last page printed (as normal), waits a bit, then runs a blank page half way through the feed path, and we are back to square one.

I did take apart my 1315, and manually fed a sheet of paper to where it should be to start a scan or print job (just before it exits the upper rollers), and the 1315 worked as it should. It appears that what is missing, is some "sensor" that tells the HP 1315 printer that a page has arrived at the "begin print job" position, to stop feeding it further. If someone in your support group understands this, and can direct me to what needs to be activated to indicate the sheet of paper has passed through the feed path to where it should stop before beginning a print job, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have somewhat resolved my HP 1315 printer problem. I opened up the printer to observe what was happening, and found that before printing or copying, the printer often “cleans” its printer cartridges. To do this, the rollers used to move paper through the printer are also used to move the print cartridges back and forth over some cleaning pads (on the right side of the printer). The problem occurs when the roller that initially feeds a sheet of paper (also on the right side), becomes geared to the main rollers during this cleaning process. (I assume it should NOT be, until the cleaning process is over). At this point, the main rollers speed up, and this is the proper time for the sheet feed roller to engage a new sheet of paper. My “solution” is to wait until I hear the main rollers speed up, then push a sheet of paper into the sheet feed area to where it will be engaged by the sheet feed roller. At this point, the sheet is picked up, and all goes well, one sheet at a time for both printing and copying. If the print job is going to require more than one sheet, just put into the paper feed tray the exact number of sheets required, and all will go well until the end of the print job. (Feeding more sheets than required will cause the extra sheet to be mis-fed). Anyway, I can live with this until I buy a new printer.

The printer receives the print prompt and feeds the paper but won't print. Then the "resume" light blinks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

. Switch off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Allow any residual charge inside the all-in-one printer to dissipate before putting your hands or any metal tools inside the chassis.

Pin down the exact location of the jam. The 3 hot spots for a jam are before a sheet completely leaves the paper tray, anywhere between the feed tray and print carriage or between the print carriage and output tray.

Take off the front paper tray if the sheet jammed while still in the front area of the printer. If here, you should be able to see most of the paper.

Pull the sheet with both hands and steady pressure. Do not tug as you might rip the paper, leaving a piece deeper inside the machine.

Open the back panel to reach paper jammed between the feed-tray area and print carriage. Carefully remove the jammed paper.

Use the carriage access door to get at a jam further inside the printer. You may need to remove the print carriage to get to the jam.

Replace all parts and return any access panels to their closed and locked positions. Plug your printer back in and flip the power switch.

I have roughly the same problem as originally reported by fdenke.

The title is misleading. There is not really a paper jam, There is a paper feed problem (i.e. a missing/faulty sensor or a lost/faulty calibration. Hence, the answer posted by Priya darshan is not a solution.

Well you can start be cleaning the drums and adjusting the paper tray, if the printer is under warranty then get it checked. There was no recall for this printer, doesn't say that on hp website.
In case of any questions kindly revert.

FUJIFIM Premium Plus Photo Paper 235 g/sm Jams when printing.

Fuji paper is the arch enemy of the hp printer due to it's high gloss and the slickness of the paper - try another brand of paper. It sounds like a money grab but hp paper has a special marking on each page that is read by the printer and it often errors much less.
