Sound is perfect with headphones plugged in but no sound from internal speakers, On checking Control Panel/Sound it states that no audio devices are installed. The internal speakers worked perfectly until about a week ago.

What you can do is check if the default audio device for your sound card/audio controller is available and try to set your speaker settings to the laptop speakers. Another thing you can do is to disconnect the headphones and then reinstall the audio driver.

Boot into safe mode (F8 on windows restart)
Select Safe Mode
When windows loads (it will take longer than usual).
Control Panel > System Properties> Device Manager > Delete/ Uninstall your audio drivers, reboot your machine - audio should work now.

There is no sound in my laptop

1. Check the volume settings of the computer.
2. Try connecting external headphones to check if there is any error with internal speakers.
3. Reinstall Audio drivers and its updates.
4. Click on Start, Control Panel >Hardware and sound.
5. Open sound properties windows and in the playback devices tab, check if the internal speakers/HP option is selected as the default audio device.

Note: VPCEB series computers have a known issues with the internal speakers. The best option is get the internal speakers replaced for EB series.

No headphone sound, but internal speaker works fine.

Hello,

Hello,

It is because that your internal speaker is the default play back device other than your head phone or external speaker.

Need to go to your sound setting.

Depend on your operating system, click Start, then click Control panel, then click Hardware and Sound, click Sound.

Under Playback tab, select your external speaker or head phones as default device.

No sound from external speakers with toshiba dynadock

if using XP, go to start control panel , sound and audio devices.Under the audio tab make sure the C Media CM106 sound device is selected under sound playback. Then under the volume tab set the volume somewhere in the middle or at the top if you don;t have active speakers . Then Under Speaker settings advanced, make sure the speaker setup is set to Laptop Stereo speakers. Also make sure the speaker volumes are up on the speaker volume button. click ok. If no result check that the cm106 sound decvice was cemented in as I saw it dissaper when I thought i had slected it. I think the key thing here is the device and the laptop speakers setting.
