Booting Trouble.... Hi, i went to turn on my Asus A6 Laptop today only to be met with the Asus logo as per usual.....followed by a black screen with a white cursor in the top left corner and that's as far as it gets. I've tried pressing F8 as the system boots so it'll load in safe mode but with no luck, Any of you guys got any ideas?

I also think that your hard drive could be dead but if you have important information on it that you need to pull out go to www.grc.com and get a copy of SPINRITE it might be able to recover the hard drive and data.

Also make sure that there is not a cd in the drive that it may be looking at, also remove any flash drive, or card from card readers if applicable. Then restart and see if it wil load then.

Sounds like the hard drive has crashed and needs replacing. Go into system utilities or bios at start up. See if you have a disc scan or check disc, some machines do not, this will do a hard drive test.

My Acer Aspire V5-571 does not load up it shows acer screen when turning on the laptop then loading floating ball comes on screen for a few seconds then black screen ? can any one please help ?

Hi Jim,

this seems like a no boot / no video kind off issue and mostly is coz of corruptions in softwares or drivers, try booting the computer in safe mode. if it does, then take a data backup. i would not recommend experimenting in this issue as it can crash the computer.
hence call 1-877-805-1027 for expert help.

It sounsd like your GPU may be BGA chip and would require a re-flow/re-ball if your laptop shows graphical distortion on both monitors.

However I would first try taking the laptop apart again and double check you have connected everything properly.

ASUS T100 stuck at preparing automatic repair message will.not reboot

Hello there, i just owned a brand new Asus T100 for 2 days and today on the 3rd day after purchasing, i faced problems during boot/start up where the laptop gets frozen on the Asus logo screen.
I tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds and turned it on again. It ran a series of windows software updates before the start up, then after all software updates have been completed, the laptop resumed to freeze at the Asus logo screen again. I tried holding the power button for 10 secs followed by holding the power button and volume up button at the same time, to get into automatic repair/repair mode. THIS HELPS, get into the repair mode!

To cut it short, i tried the other advanced options as well as the restart button in the repair mode but to no avail. After carefully reading the different options in the 'advanced options' in repair mode...
Here's what worked for me:
1) If you're stuck at the Asus logo screen which doesn't seem to boot for ages or at least 10 minutes, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and let the screen turn black. (I did this with my charger plugged in, not too sure if it matters)
2) Count to 10 seconds. Switch the laptop on by HOLDING THE POWER BUTTON + VOLUME UP BUTTON at the same time. This will send the laptop into an 'automatic repair', followed by a 'diagnosing this PC' and after which you will see a blue screen which is the repair mode.
3) On the blue screen you will see 2 buttons, 'Restart' and 'Advanced Options'. Click on 'Advanced Options'. (DO NOT CLICK RESTART, it does nothing as you will get stuck again at the logo screen)
4) After clicking 'Advanced Options', click 'Advanced ....' (i forgot what exactly) and click 'STARTUP REPAIR'. This is the crucial part. Then follow whatever the system promts you.
5) Afterwards, it will attempt to repair your system then lead you back to the logo screen for startup.
6) Wait a few minutes and you should be able to get to your login screen as usual.

Hope this helps. I chanced upon it by guessing which would actually help me.

Take disk out. Power down. Restart. See if will start up without a disk in it. Might be confused by your disk. Did you try to F8 or F9 while restarting to get into BIOS (trying to remember which one will boot you to BIOS). Then see if the CD/DVD was disable for boot up. Turn that back on if you can get into BOS so it will boot up you recovery disk.. If your OS is completely gone, you will have to reinstall...

My asus K501J was suddenly working then i turned it off and went back on a couple of hours later and every time i turn it on now it goes to the asus menu thing and then it goes black. What should i do?

When you go to turn it off do you use the power button, or do you go to start and shut down? If you shut it off by the button this is not good, you can corrupt your files by doing this because it doesnt give Windows the chance to close its needed files first. Excessively using this will definitely cause damage to your computer. If you are able to get to the ASUS logo at startup, try to the following.. reboot and when you see the logo hit f8, you will then be taken to a black screen that gives you a few options. Arrow down to the option that says Safe mode with command prompt and hit enter. You will then be redirected to another black screen with a command prompt that looks like this.. C:\***** . At the C: type the following, chkdsk /f this will test your hard disk for errors and should repair them as well. Once this is done type exit and reboot, you should be able to boot into windows successfully now. Let me know if you have further issues as we will go to step 2. Hope that helps and gets you goin!
if you found this helpful, please leave feedback, thanks
Lori
