Question about Goodman CKL24AR24 Air Conditioner

Open Question

I have a Goodman (AR24-1) unit, the heating is electric not gas. How do I test the blower motor with out removing it. I have a part number but not sure if it is the blower motor number or not. Part number 15212-50. (1.5 AMP 1/5 HP) 208/204 Volts) I have replaced the capacitor today but still did not start when I have the Fan switch turned on. I have checked the thermostat. Any way to check the motor? The switch board number is ( # Goodman B1370735) I can test it with my meter if needed.

SOURCE: Units heating elements wont shut off regardless of

Hi, you will need to replace this thermostat as the circuitry is faulty and keeping the strips energized. The only way to check would be to pull cover from stat and expose stat wires. Power off first. Disconnect the 24 volt hot wire, red and they should shut right off. If so get a new stat. If you need further help, please contact me. Merry Christmas.

SOURCE: I have a goodman ar24-1 blower motor that will not

Check the relay or sequencer that controls the blower if it has one of those. If the fan is controlled by a circuit board then you problem may be there. If it is controlled by a circuit board then you can check for power at the fan connection when the fan is supposed to be on. Then there is always the possibility that you blower motor is burned out. You can use and ohmmeter to check the motor windings. You said you checked the thermostat, how did you do that? If you install a jumper between the R and G connections the fan should run if everything else is OK.

Hi,
You totally have the wrong motor....you need to get a 208-230 motoro on there for it to work... in fact you probably already have ruined the 115volt motor...the voltage for that motor is to be 115v and you are probably running 130 volts to it...

They probably id not think and gave you a furnace blower motor which would be 115 volts and not a motor for a air handler which runs the higher voltage...

Return it and get the right motor...

I have a Goodman phkj036-1f and the unit sounds like its kicking in and then right back out and not putting out any heat. A/C works like it should but heat doesnt

Sounds like the blower motor is wired to the load side of the A/C contactor relay/. In this condition the blower will only run when the compressor is running which is ok for a heat pump but if you are running electric heat only the blower motor needs one wire to the line side and one to the fan relay. That way the blower will run with heat or a/c. When the blower wont run the heat strips thermal protection will cycle them on and off

I have a 1999 Goodman GMT070-3B furnace and it seems no heat is coming out of vents. I can see igniter comes on but noticed the blower motor on bottom of unit is not spinning. My question is what would...

does the unit fire? If the unit doesnt fire then the blower most likely wont come on. If it is firing then the board has a preset delay sometimes there are dipswitches on the board you can adjust from 45 sec 60 sec 90 sec 120sec. Check these. You can test power at the blower motor if your getting 120 v then you either have a bad capacitor or a bad motor. You can check the capacitor with a capicitance meter. You can also the fan on at the stat and see if it spins if it doesnt remove blower cover hold in door switch and manually spin it should spin freely if not feel the motor and see if its hot. Let me know what you find. Hope this helps and please leave feedback

There is a induced draft motor that will run first to purge the combustion chamber and induce a draft, a pressure switch closes proving an induced draft exists, thus allowing the spark and pilot gas, or hot surface ignitir and gas to pilot rsil and /or burners, a trial period for ignition about 30 seconds each for 3 attempts will be made and if not lit by the 3rd attempt it locks out, requiring a reset of power to unit to reset the module or circuit board etc. 1st see what motors running, is it the flue exhaust motor/induced draft??

Hi, and yes you have a short in a componant such as a blower motor has quit or shorted out, it could be a number of things. If these units are fairly new, the furnace will have a led light on it that will tell you if you have a control voltage problem, but in this case it trips the 15 amp main. This happens quite a lot. You will need to get to this heater and start looking for anything out of the unusual, burned electrical smell from the windings on the blower motor. You can unplug the blower leads at the circuit board and have someone up top reset the breaker to see if it holds. If so, its the motor that's shot. I know they are hard to work on under the house but you have no choice. You will have to do a process of elimination. It really should be easy to find as it is a dead short on a high voltage part, blower motor, circuit board. Just have a good strong light and have a 5/16 and 1/4 " nut drivers with you. Take a screw driver of each with you also, and have someone up top to work with you. It will save you a lot of time. Keep me posted, please.

We have a Goodman gas pack (PGB 030075-1)and no heat. A/C works fine. We can get the blower to come on but nothing but cold air comes out. Do we have a pilot light on this unit that needs to be lit?

Amy,
There is no pilot light. It is electronic ignition.
If you have a gas supply and it is turned on you have electrical problems inside the unit.

Have a Goodman GMT070-3B which the vent motor seems to be sticking. I took apart and cleaned the brushes and reassembled. The furnace will come on only after what seems like the vent motor comes up to...

The whole assembly must be replaced.

The sequence of operation is -

Combustion fan purges the heat exchanger. A pressure switch verifies combustion air fan is running. Usually a 30-45 second purge before the hot surface ignitor glows, or the spark ignition starts.

Gas valve opens after 10-15 seconds and main burners light. Control board monitors for flame and shuts gas valve after 2-3 seconds if main burner does not light.

If burner does not light, some boards repeat this for 3 tries, then locks out and is reset by cycling power.

Air blower comes on after another 30-45 seconds after main burner ignition.

Times may vary based on the specific controller board. A flow chart and timing sequence should be located somewhere on the unit, usually in the fan compartment.

My goodman electric/gas pack started smelling like burnt motor then stopped blowing then shut down. Blower motor? (yes /no) What is replcement procedure..

(yes/no) verify the motor is bad by volt, amp draw, and ohmmeter. if bad, the repalcement is fairly straight forward the entire squirrel cage assembly is removed, cleaned, new motor and capacitor installed and then wired back in. Goodman has a five year warranty program on many of it's units, verify before spending money on a motor

Exhaust Fan (outdoor blower?) shuts off after 1 minute, and motor feels hot

sounds like your condenser fan (the outside blower) has gone bad or the capacitor (small silver box looking thing attached to the motor). the way to test the cap. is with a digital meter that can test for micro farads. the reason it gets hot is you have electricity going to the motor. normally it would transition that energy to motion energy. however since the motor is not turning that energy has to go some where, so it turns into heat energy. your best bet is to replace your condenser fan and capacitor. that is if your comfortable with that type of repair. otherwise call someone out to repair and tell them what your make and model is so they can bring the parts with them and save you some money. hope that helps
