Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer
The drum light would occassionaly blink so I bought a new drum. Before I installed it both the drum and toner led blinks together. I put the new drum in but it has the same problem. It seems to be printing ok. Bill
I have the same problems with you guys, and none of the solutions above work.
I solved Brother HL-2040 with the following tricks
1. Use the link below to process steps 1-4 and stop.
2. Use screw driver to remove 3 screws on one side of the toner
3. From the small separate part after removed it from the toner, there is a small white adjustment (plastic), use your finger adjust to the opposite side. Put it back to the toner, and screw them back as original.
4. Follow the remain steps from the link above,
Your toner indicator should be turn OFF

When the drum or toner leds blink it means that each of the
consumable units are nearing the end of their use.
On toner cart' it signifies that the toner is starting to run low.
but it does not mean that either of the consumables should be
replaced untill the leds are constantly on,individualy or together.
To reset the drum: open front cover, hold down start key untill
all the leds sequence down then let go of the start key and close
when replacing the toner, that should automatically reset itself.
Drum life is 1200 copies (generally)
Toner yield is calculated on 5% coverage per page.
Tap the GO key 3 times to get a status report sheet.
