In the setup, go to wireless settings- it will check for available networks. When it finds your network, make certain you enter in the security information for the network- you should then be connected to the internet

My dsi is not connecting to the internet

Hi shamar101,

To set up your wifi on your dsi do the following:

Here's How:
  1. Turn on the Nintendo DSi
  2. Click on the wrench icon to access "System Settings."
  3. Select "Internet" on the third page of System Settings.
  4. Select "Connection Settings" and tap the "None" bar in "Connection 1."
  5. You have the option of setting up a connection manually, or searching for available connections in the area. You may also access your Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector, if you have one (the product has been discontinued). The easiest thing to do is select "Search for an Access Point."
  6. Your Nintendo DSi will list the names of any wireless access points in range. A gold, unlocked icon next to the connection's name signifies an unlocked WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) connection that can be accessed immediately. A locked gold icon signifies an encrypted WEP connection that requires a WEP key (password).
  7. If you are accessing a locked/encrypted connection, enter your WEP key. You may also click "Change Security Settings" to enter a WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) key.
  8. If your WEP key is correct, your Nintendo DSi should connect. You can test your connection to verify.
  9. You're set! Now you can surf the Internet, purchase games and add-ons in the Nintendo DSi Shop, and play games that allow wireless access and competition (with WEP connections, only).
Tips:
  1. If you need help with your router settings, visit Nintendo's router FAQ
  2. Most Nintendo DS and DSi owners can get online by searching for an access point, but some might have to resort to manual setup. Visit Nintendo's manual setup guide if you have a unique situation and need help.
  3. The Nintendo DSi can go online with a WPA connection, but actually playing DSi games online requires a WEP connection.
What You Need:
  • A Nintendo DSi
  • A broadband internet connection, such as cable, DSL or FIOS
  • A wireless router
  • A Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (optional)

Hope this helped!

Error Code: 051099Was this information helpful?

Unable to use your wireless signal

Likely cause: It appears that the settings entered into the Nintendo DS are not compatible, or the router's broadcast settings should be changed.

How to fix: Try creating a new connection with your system. Nintendo DSi owners trying to play multiplayer games will want to be sure to read the "Trying to play online multiplayer with Nintendo DSi."

How do i get a internet

  • You must either have broadband internet access and a wireless router or you can connect your Nintendo DSi at a hotspot, such as a library or coffee shop that offers internet access. Make sure you are in a location mentioned above before going to step 2.
  • 2 Turn on your Nintendo DSi and click on the wrench icon. This will take you to the system settings.
  • 3 Go to page 3 and select "Internet".
  • 4 Click "Connection Settings".
  • 5 Click "None" to the right of "Connection 1".
  • 6 Click "Search for an Access Point".
  • 7 Look for an access point that has a gold lock that is unlocked. Select that access point and your Nintendo DSi should now be connected.
  • 8 If you are planning on playing games online with your Nintendo DSi and have WPA security, you will have to set your router to WEP security.

To do this, get back to the "Connection Settings" screen mentioned in step 4.

    Click "Advanced Setup".

Click any button that says "none".

Click "Search for an Access Point".

Look for an access point that has a gold lock that is unlocked. Select that access point and your Nintendo DSi should now be connected.
