Question about ViewSonic VX910 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

OSD Locked is on and blinking. Will not go off. If I unplug the monitor, press and hold 1, then replug, the OSD locked goes off, but then it comes back on again in a few minutes. If I hold 1 and it unlocks, the contrast or brightness box comes on but stays on and cannot be adjusted. Again, the unplug, 1, replug works, but only temporarily. A bit frustrating.

Thank you for your response. Your suggestion seems to be about how to use the normal procedure for turning the OSD on and off. However, on my monitor, the OSD Locked message stays on and blinks rapidly. If I hold button 1, it unlocks the OSD, but the unlocked message still stays on, and often the dialog boxes for brightness or contrast also stay on. When they are on, I cannot adjust the brightness or contrast. I have followed the suggestion online to unplug the monitor, then hold button 1 and replugging it in, and sometimes this turns off the messages, but soon they come back on again.

I live in the Marshall Islands in the West Pacific, and shipping the monitor for repair is very costly plus takes time. Is there something I might do, or I might ask a computer person here to do?

Waiting for a reply. Many thanks,

Thanks. I'll try your suggestions and get back in touch if I think you may be of further help. The small island I live on is near the equator and, even with AC, it's a very humid climate. It can wreak havoc with technology, and this may be my problem.

    Thanks again,

    Ted

    Thanks for your response!!

    OK!!

If it's come back after few minutes, this is an internal fault. Either consider the possibility of front button faults ( you may want to try using a compressed air and spray inside through the narrow gaps between button and front panel ) or it could be a problem with electronic circuitry ( IC 7805 on most models ).

I would rather prefer a TV repairman to have a look at it and fix it rather than computer guy trying to play with it.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

The button on the front has functions but when I press either the left hand side or the right hand side it just comes up with a message ''OSD Locked'' What does this mean

OSD Locked means that your On Screen Display is locked. That basically means you can't access/change the menu settings. The way to unlock the OSD varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and even monitor to monitor. Here are a couple different ways to unlock it:

1) The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warning message OSD Lock displays for ten seconds.

* If the OSD is locked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
* If the OSD is unlocked, press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to lock the OSD.

OR

2) Go to Menu and select OSD settings and change the setting for the OSD Lock. For example if it is a "+" then make it a "-" or a "On", then make it an "Off", or an "Enable" then make it a "Disable".

If neither of these work, I would contact customer support for your monitor from the manufacturer. They should be able to tell you how to turn off the OSD Lock.

Hope that helps. Good luck!
