The outer combs must be turned first so that they can be removed. You will find instructions posted at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

We cannot find our warranty paper on this model from Remington razor R5130. It broke at the place where the top connects to the razor. We purchased the razor several months ago for our Hospital use for...

If you purchased it less than 2 years ago, it is still under warranty. If you have proof of purchase, you should be able to call Remington at 1-800-736-4648 for additional warranty instructions

If you are not able to show proof of purchase and are not able to use the warranty, you will find the needed part at shaveroutlet.com. See link below

Can batteries in Remington 5130 Electric Shaver be replaced. I can't find such batteries, but saw where soldering is required, so evidently Remington wants to sell a new shaver rather than a new battery.

Yes you can have the battery replaced. This however needs to be done by an Authorized Service Dealer. To find your nearest dealer in the USA, use the online search function here:

http://www.remingtonproducts.com/ConsumerService/AuthorizedServiceDealers.aspx

If you are in another country, go to the top right of the screen, mouse over the Country and select your country. Look for a tab for the Authorized Service Dealer search function.

After two weeks use of my new Remington R5130, now one of the three heads keeps popping off during almost during every shave. Any suggestions?

My R5130 kept falling apart when I shaved. I really like Remington Shavers (Spectrum Brands) and have had good luck with them until the R5130 model.

Two points.
1.) -THEY SHIPPED ME A NEW HEAD ASSEMBLY (BUT)- The original one I got had poorly formed plastics tabs on the blade retainer (head) I Googled Remington Shavers and used their Consumer Service tab to request a fix. They sent me a new head assembly free of charge and yes it worked much better. However, it eventually the heads started falling off again.

2.) RUBBER BAND FIXED IT - I looked it over again and thought that the range of movement and forces on the assembly pieces was just more than the design could handle so I looked for a way to contain some of the movement. I slipped a single thin (1/16"x1/8") - 2" diameter rubber band around the three head assembly and the problem has been completely eliminated. I can shave normally now. The rubber band nearly disappears under the black head flanges so it doesn't even look bad. The shave is a little firmer now but it still has most of the flexibility of the original design.

This simple fix will be a hard one for Remington (Spectrum Brands) to adopt but you might help spread the word. I am sure they will avoid this problem in the next models.
