Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

I have a WD52527 The Lamp blew out in it. it was very obvious due to the shatter fillaminte on the bottom. I replaced the lamp with a new. Now when I turn it on it goes thru its warm up cycle I can hear the fan turn on then back off again, the orange lite begins to flash and the TV turns off. What could be my problem? Is my fan motor bad?

It sounds like you require a ballast unit as well. When lamps age and fail, if left too long the ballast unit is prone to fail at some point especially when it becomes open circuit or explodes.
Hope this helps.

Is the ballast something I am able to swap out my self or is this item a take to repair point to be acomplished? thank you.

  • specialistel Nov 13, 2010

The ballast unit is a high voltage power supply. If you follow the fat wires from the lamp socket the unit that you get to first is the ballast.
There, hopefully, will be a part number on it and if you can purchase one, fitting is quite easy. Just use your head and photograph with a camera phone, there will be no problem replacing it because you will see where everything went.
    Hope that helps.

Probably a bad lamp. Pull your lamp door and check the bulb. Usually obvious if it's bad (ie. shattered, blown tube) replace and enjoy!

Bought my hitachi 50vs69a tv 3 years ago. put new bulb in six months ago after original shattered. New bulb is not working now. TV comes on and stays on a few seconds then power, lamp and temp light start...

Take the lamp out and examine it. Are there any blackened markes that look like arcing marks? If there are then the lamp may be faulty and that could be caused by the ballast but in my experience of working with Sany and Philips lamps, the ballast units generally fail without causing lamp problems.
I should go for a new lamp.
Hope that helps.

When unit was turned off last night it "popped". Now it does not come on and the power light flashes at a rate of 1 flasher per second.

the lamp blew. take it out and see if there is shattered glass inside. if there is, replace the lamp and blow the dust out of the projector. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expel. the lamp probably overheated and shattered. otherwise, it was at the end of it's life (usually 3000 hours).

Tv wont turn on

It does sound like the lamp is your problem. You can remove it and inspect it visually for obvious signs of failure. Usually you will see that the arc tube, the glass tube down the center of the lamp, has shattered. Clean out the broken glass from the lamp compartment carefully before replacing the lamp.
Good luck.

Lamp light coming on my wd52527 when lamp was just replaced tv saying lamp is about to exceded its life

There is a reset of thew lamp timer which should have been done at time of replacement. It is usually the combination of holding 2 or 3 buttons at the same time. The manufacturer usually has it posted on the web or the instructions with the lamp should have the procedure....
Last resort is call the manufacturer tech line

No picture lamp light on

You can find the lamp acces door on the lower back left side. You will have two philips head screw to remove and you will see the lamp. Remove it and look at it. It will probably be shattered. There is also a filter right beside the access door. Be sure to clean that.
You owners manual can provide you with info to ordered a lamp and have it sent to your home

Mitsubishi WD52527 lamp light

Replace the lamp, model 915P028010.  There is a lamp door on the back left bottom of the set (while looking at it from the back).  Take off the door (two screws) and then take off the two screws holding the lamp in place and pull on the handle.  Replace the lamp the same way.  Then make sure to clean the air filters (below the lamp, two screws; and bottom right).  If the set gets too hot it may destroy the set and/or the lamp.  Also, don't turn the set on and off again within a few moments.  It will destroy the lamp.  Take it from someone who had the same problem, keep the filters clean by cleaning at least once every couple of months....Dave
