I have a Microsoft wireless mouse that uses a 2.4 GHz USB style thumb stick transceiver to communicate w/my laptop. That transceiver is damaged & cuts in & out. My question is, can I buy a new 2.4 GHz tranceiver that will work w/my mouse w/o haveing to buy a new mouse all together? & if so, where can I find it?

Sorry! you can't. Because, although its 2.4Ghz, a special code is included in the signal so it won't mix up with any other wireless devices.

pls. vote for better service... Thank you

I need a replacement snap in mimi transceiver for microsoft wiless desktop 3000 keyboard and mouse where can i get one

Call Microsoft parts replacement 800-360-7561 and tell them what happened and they will give you a replacement cost for the kit again. My puppy chewed my USB transceiver and for $32 (including the $24 complete kit with keyboard, mouse, and transceiver, shipping and tax). Silly but fair. You will need to get the Product ID from the back of the keyboard: 01036-545-7152051-01006. It is not possible to get the USB transceiver separately.

Hi Tony,
It appears that you have an IBM desktop whose BIOS isn't capable of booting off of a USB keyboard and mouse device. Older computers used to require that a PS2 mouse and keyboard be attached before booting, to prevent you from booting a machine without any way of controlling it. You have 3 options:

1. leave the corded mouse and keyboard attached and never use them
2. update the BIOS for your desktop to the newest one in hopes that the updated BIOS will allow for USB mouse and keyboard operation
3. go to a computer store and get a PS2 to USB converter/adapter. They're small and relatively inexpensive. It plugs into the PS2 port, and makes your computer think that there's a PS2 device connected, when it's actually a USB device.

Want to use wireless mouse with my laptop how can I do this. I have a window vista laptop

Just buy a USB wireless mouse. There is a transceiver that plugs into the USB port of the computer, the size of a thumb drive, and it sends and receives signals to the wireless mouse. In my opinion, a wireless, optical mouse is the best. Normally the footprint (size) of the mouse is smaller than a desktop one as well if you choose. With Vista, just plug it in the USB port and windows should install the drivers without any disks. But if it doesn't just insert the disk that comes with the mouse. You only need a driver for it. A driver is a set of instructions that tell the device what to do. Every piece of hardware in your computer has a specific driver.
I hope this helps and good luck.

What are the parts of a mouse and their bases

For wireless mouse, it has a USB dongle or base that has transceiver to receive command from the mouse via RF signal.

The mouse has a laser underneath that detects the dpi (dots per inch) movement of the mouse. It also has transmitter that communicates with the USB transceiver via RF signal.

Nice mouse.

I've had some problems with wireless mice in the past, so I will just list the causes and see if one fits the bill for you.

1. Did you move the USB transceiver (this is the device that communicates with the mouse) from one USB port to another? If so, uninstall the mouse and reinstall it using the CD that came with your mouse.

2. Do you have any other wireless devices in the vicinity of your mouse that use a radio frequency rather than infrared, such as a wireless keyboard? If so, you may have a conflict.

3. Were you provided instructions on resetting the RF channel and/or ID code of the mouse? There is a small chance that the channels/codes between the mouse and the transceiver were scrambled and you may need to sync them again.

Hope one of these helps!

Mouse Right click doesn't work

hello!

o Install fresh batteries. Try brand new-high quality batteries you absolutely know are fresh and working.
o Install the latest software. Totally remove all software and reinstall from scratch.
o Try a different port and Resynchronize your device to the receiver. Try plugging the mouse into a different USB port try powering down the computer and using the PS2 port for the mouse instead. Mice in my experience overall work better using PS2 ports on PCs that have them.
o Clean the mouse lens. This problem may occur if you are using an optical or laser mouse and the lens on the mouse is dirty.
