The system could be blocked.

the bag door could be open on the unit.

The little black gasket between the dirt pail and the main body of the unit may be missing.

Check those and you may solve the problem. I am almost sure it would be the black gasket is missing.

good luck.

Hoover Model SH80520 starts and won't quit

that's how it's supposed to operate, switch on turns the unit on. switch off turns the unit off. thier is a wire that is connected to the leads on each outlet that turns the unit on when the hose is inserted and the switch is in the off position.

My vac will turn on at the unit but will not come on when I insert the hose into any wall outlet

The problem is one of two things...either the hose part is bad or the wiring to the unit is bad....all that needs to happen to make the unit come on is to short between (connect) the two wires going to the unit. Therefore if the hose part is not connecting the two wires, or if the wires are broken somewhere going to the unit it will not turn on with the hose. I would take apart one of the wall outlets and jumper the wires to make sure that the wiring to the unit is good. If that does not work, then start checking for a break in the wiring to the unit. My feeling is that the hose part is probably bad and it is not making the connection in there properly and therefore not turning on the unit.

The Vaccum is not turning on when i plug the hose into the wall. The hoover system will turn on when i turn the switch on at the base and wont go off till i turn the switch off. But it will not come on...

you can test this out by taking a small metal spoon and with the bottom side of the spoon insert it into the vac outlet on the wall. you want to touch the two metal pins inside the vac outlet to test if the unit is the problem or the hose is the problem.

If the unit starts, the hose should have a 3 year warranty on it. I recommend you have your nearest beam dealer check it out.

If the unit does not start, it has a 7 or 10 year warranty, the circuitry should be replaced. Again have your nearest beam dealer check it out.

good luck

Why has air suction pressure has dropped off to almost no suction? Filter cleaning did not help.

Do any of the ports have greater suction than others and are they closer to the vacuum motor unit? You appear to have a piping clog and locating it's position is the primary problem. If you have a portable vacuum, try placing it's hose in the exhaust port of the main unit and insert the pickup hose in a wall port near the main vacuum so that both units are on. The combined suction may pull the clog loose and draw it into the filter of the main unit. The other remedy is to remove the piping from the main unit and see if suction is good at that point, then work your way out to the nearest wall port. Hope some of this helps!

Will not turn off when hose is pulled out of wall

Some units have an on/off switch on the power unit itself. Check to make sure that is not turned on. Unplug your power unit and remove the 2 low voltage wires (not the power cord itself) . The low voltage wires start at the unit and run throught your home and attach to each hose inlet. They are usually attached to the unit by simple wire terminals or wire capped to small wires coming out. Just unlug the terminals or unscrew the wire caps and pull the connections apart. Plug your machine back in. If it still comes on the problem is the relay or circuit board/switch/ relay assembly inside the unit. If it doesn't come on with the low voltage wires unattached then you may have two wires touching somewhere in the low voltage wiring.

Outlet does not engage unit

I would try to remove the inlet from the wall and tighten the screws that the low voltage wires connect to. If that doesn't work I would buy a new inlet. They are very easy to change out and relatively inexpensive. The inlets are readily available online.

How does it work?

Most units of this type make steam by heating water that is placed in a canister. Other than the place you attach the "hose", there should be only one other place on the body of the unit that opens up... that's most probably where the water goes in. Put water into a measuring cup, graduated cylinder, filling to known point. Then pour water into unit until 1/2" below fill hole. Note on measuring cup how much you used. This is the unit's capacity. Put "lid" or "cap" back on, plug unit into wall and wait a little while. Voila! Steam.

No suction in the walls for our Beam Heavy Duty Vacuum.

Do you have any open valves? Sometimes when vacpans are installed they are left open. Check those and then the other inlets to make sure they are not open.

Also, if this unit is not newly installed, then you need to check for blockages. If the motor in the garage is winding up and running faster/harder than usual, then there is likely a blockage between the main unit and the inlet nearest the unit.

Problems with 353 nutone

if its an older unit or it got heavy use it could be the motor they tend to sputter as there going out, as it rotates the electricity hits a burnt spot inside the motor and shuts itself off can you turn it on manually? they usually put a swithc on the tank itself if the problem doesnt occur when you switch it then it could be the hose itself normally they control the off/on use a meter to check the continuity beteen the two copper plates that are on the end of the hose ( the wall end )
