If it is in standby mode hitting any key on the keyboard or moving the mouse should wake it up. If it is hibernating pushing the power button should wake it up.

I have a Compaq (CQ61Z) laptop stuck in sleep mode. We have tried shutting it down (manual override by holding the power button) unplugging it and waiting etc. Nothing seems to work. Any hints?

Hello,

Anytime you use the sleep mode, your battery is working to save your information. Your battery may be drained, depending on how long your computer has been asleep?

Try taking your battery out and use your power adapter only and just press the power key...don't hold it down, just press it like your turning it on.

This should fix your problem! When you get back your power, you need to go into your power setting and set your setting to 'Never', this way, you don't have this problem again.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reply back to me.

Kind regards!

Martie

Dell monitor flashing green power button black screen.

Your computer is in sleep mode, a low power mode that conserves power by turning off the screen and hard drive.

Push the power button on the system and the computer will resume.

If you don't like this feature, you can turn off sleep mode in the power options in Control Panel

Have a problem with my computer. I clicked on sleep mode and it turned off, but when I tried to wake it up after about 5 -7 minutes, it gave me a sign that said ?No signal ?..?something.? I don?t know how...

Hello
1st try clicking mouse and moving it around.
2nd turn monitor off then back on.
Last unplug pc and monitor from all power for a minute or two to reset motherboard.Plug back in and start up pc.
Should wake it up.
You may get a notice the windows did not shut down correctly, just choose to start windows normally.

Hope this helps.

Delay in Monitor display once the system goes in sleep mode

Instead of sleep mode, tyr hibernate. It is generally faster except the whole computer shuts down. When you power back up, you're exactly where you were. Mine takes about 30 seconds.

Laptop goes into permanent sleep mode, etc

If you can restart it and it starts up fine, then I would go into the power settings and disable sleep mode. Every computer is different on how to wake a sleeping computer, so you could read through your manuals and find out for yours, but I just disable sleep mode on all computers so i dont have to hassle with it.

My computer sleeps and I cant wake except by turning it off and restarting it can you help me?

Is the monitor and the pc sleeping? You can change the settings in Control Panel under Power Options. Since I keep my pc on all of the time, I have my power settings as follows: go to Control Panel, then Performance and Maintenance, then Power Options. I have the option checked for 'always on' and for the monitor and HD, I have all of the options set to NEVER. I also don't have the box checked for Hibernation.
