The machine is single phase.
The motor has a capacitor which could be faulty, also motor has two windings (start and run) the motor needs both along with the capacitor to start, once running a switch in the motor disconnects the start winding and the motor continues on the run winding.
possibly either the capacitor or motor winding is defective.
Let me have the machine details may have a good motor UK only.

WTW 4800XQ1 not working. Start lite goes on, fill lite goes on, then start lite goes off.

Hello. When you press the start button, you should hear the lid lock engage, then disengage after a short pause, then re-engage. If this doesn't happen, the lid lock might be defective, (the locking, unlocking, then re-locking is a self test). The motor should make some short, slow spins to determine load size. Listen for the motor--if all you hear is a "pulsing faint humming or buzzing noise", there is a part failure causing the motor to not move correctly. Because of the electronic design, you will have to call for service to determine the failure cause.

My roper top load washer model rtw4440vq fills with water but wont wash, spin or drain

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

send the model number?if it's a top load washer check the lid switch,if the switch is broke it will fill and do nothing,if it's the coupling the motor will run but nothing will move, close the lid and then open it a little and close it a few times,if you don't hear a clicking sound you have a bad lid switch, you can also open the lid,set the timer on spin and with a screw driver push down on the switch on the right side,if it spins the lid switch is bad,it has to work only if you hear it clicking when you push down on it,if it don't click it's bad.let me know what you find.also if the motor is humming you could have something stuck in the pump, pull off the frame, pop the metal clips on the pump and slide it off and start it,if the motor runs you have a bad pump or something stuck in it.

The washer stopped spinning and agitating. The motor runs, the belt turns all 3 pulleys. The main pulley will turn the agitator by hand. When the 6 screws are not attached to the brake stator the machine...

HELLO THERE:

SYMPTOM: WASHER FILLS, BUT DOESN'T AGITATE AND/OR SPIN
1) Check the imbalance/lid switch FOR continuity. Check also the speed selector switch (if any), the water level and water temperature switches for proper operation .
NOTE: If any of the selector switches on the console are only partially pushed in, it may cause improper function.
2) Check for a broken or badly worn belt.
3) Check the motor rollers and tension springs for damage and the motor roller tracks for jamming. Any of these might cause the belt to be loose.
4) Check the appropriate timer circuits for continuity.
5) Remove the belts and see if the motor will start. If you hear the motor buzzing, but it doesn't start in either or both directions, test the capacitor (if any) and starting switch
If it does start with the load removed, turn the pump and transmission pulleys by hand, in both directions, to see which is locked up. If the pump is locked, If the transmission pulley is locked,. Note that the transmission pulley will normally be very stiff when turning it in the clockwise direction, as you look at the bottom of the washer.

Hello my washing machine drains and fills but will not agiatete the timer was replaced so that's not it. Could it be the lid switch?

If you can hear the motor running with no agitation then it is either the Coupler (connector between the motor and transmission) or the transmission it's self... If the motor doesn't run then it could be the lid switch..

I have a Roper Washer Model RTW4340SQD that

The lid switch is on the top left side of the top cover. If it is bad the machine will fill and stop. The lid switch must be good for the machine to agitate and spin.

Whirlpool washer humming!

If you open the lid, does the humming stop? If so that means your lid switch is good, the hum is from you motor, which means your transmission is messed up. You need a service call.
