Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Amana washing machine model LW6153WM that has a leak from under the machine. We changed both water hoses but that must not be the problem because it still leaks. Where do we start to look to try to find the source of the leak? Thanks.

Most common leak would be the water pump located in the center front . remove the front panel 2 screws hold it . and i think you can see the motor and pump in the front . then fill the machine and during the fill look for where the water is comming from. . most common are the pump / the center seal / or the valve .. hope this will help feed back pls mm and thanks for using fix ya ..

My Amana front load washer leaks water from beneath the soap dispensing tray while the machine is in use. Any ideas as to how to fix it?

Remove the tray and clean it under hot running water. Pull out and then up and out is the normal way, but some have a catch which you should be able to see. If that doesn't fix it, you would need to look inside it for loose or split hoses. If the water is just dribbling out under the tray and down the front of the machine, cleaning the tray will fix it.

How do i figure out where my washing machine is leaking?

The easiest way would be to lay the machine on a pad on a side( (water will leak out so take the machine outside) and look for signs of leakage( mineral deposits, discoloration). Many components are not serviceable so prepare to buy a part. Hope it's a hose or something inexpensive!

Leaking washing machine

It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways andis the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it isimportant that your observation is most important and so is vital to theidentification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water hasleaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on theunderside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here.In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of thehouse and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be looseon the grip which can all cause the leak to occur. Removing and cleaning thedrain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water canleak if there are gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but thiswill happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.Tips for leak: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7/1461/do-you-have-a-leaky-washing-machine.html Check for tips on the link below to identify parts andremoval:http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/washing-machines/a/7

pump is available separately.  should run you around 40 dollars or so.  only a couple of screws holding it on plus the 2 hose clamps.  keep bucket ready for when you disconnect the hoses. always water left in there.  make sure you put the hoses back on the port they came off of or get ready to do the backstroke..

Amana washer leaking.

Have your husband disconnect the power and water lines, pull the washer out and tip it back so he can check the hose connections to the water drain pump in the bottom of the washer. That pump should have two hose connections. In older machines, it is entirely possible that a hose has either come loose or cracked. If the hoses appear fine, check the pump itself for possible cracks. If all looks well, check the hose clamps for tightness.
