Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an Amana washing machine model LW6153WM that has a leak from under the machine. We changed both water hoses but that must not be the problem because it still leaks. Where do we start to look to try to find the source of the leak? Thanks.

My Amana front load washer leaks water from beneath the soap dispensing tray while the machine is in use. Any ideas as to how to fix it?

Remove the tray and clean it under hot running water. Pull out and then up and out is the normal way, but some have a catch which you should be able to see. If that doesn't fix it, you would need to look inside it for loose or split hoses. If the water is just dribbling out under the tray and down the front of the machine, cleaning the tray will fix it.

How do i figure out where my washing machine is leaking?

The easiest way would be to lay the machine on a pad on a side( (water will leak out so take the machine outside) and look for signs of leakage( mineral deposits, discoloration). Many components are not serviceable so prepare to buy a part. Hope it's a hose or something inexpensive!

What does it mean when a washer leaks from the bottom?
The pump will have an outlet or drain hose, an inlet from the tub and may have a circulating hose outlet as well. If you have water leaking from the washer during a wash or drain cycle, check the area of the drain pump. Look for signs of a loose hose clamp or a leaking hose connected to the pump first. Leaking washing machine

It is so common that the drain leaks in many ways andis the most problematic fault in a washing machine. In all occasions it isimportant that your observation is most important and so is vital to theidentification /rectification and solution. If you have noticed that water hasleaked then as the drain hose pump/valve and fittings are located on theunderside of the machine it is important that you look for possible leaks here.In some cases the drain hose would be clogged at the drain end to outlet of thehouse and so there will be back flushing resulting in overflow to the outside. Also the drain pump/valve can be clogged or the drain hose clamps can be looseon the grip which can all cause the leak to occur. Removing and cleaning thedrain pump/valve, tightening of the hose is also very important. Also water canleak if there are gaps on the front door gaskets and must be checked but thiswill happen only during the cycle and not on the drain cycle end.Tips for leak: Check for tips on the link below to identify parts andremoval:

Amana washer leaking.

Have your husband disconnect the power and water lines, pull the washer out and tip it back so he can check the hose connections to the water drain pump in the bottom of the washer. That pump should have two hose connections. In older machines, it is entirely possible that a hose has either come loose or cracked. If the hoses appear fine, check the pump itself for possible cracks. If all looks well, check the hose clamps for tightness.
