Hi you have a wire touching the body of the treadmill somewhere, but an easy fix is to go to any car parts shop and buy an antistatic strip. just attach that to the body of the treadmill making sure it is touching the ground, this will def fix your problem. i had the same with mine i spent ages looking for the wire etc but just waisted alot of time. the strip has worked very well.and cheap to buy under £5.00.

I get a small electric shock each time i put my hand on the heart rate monitor on the left of the treadmill. Also happens when i h the inclune buttons on the left. Any suggestions?

Hi Pjd

Shocking problem!

Suspect that the treadmill is generating static electricity.

It is building up as you run... via the rubber mat.

Like the comb through the hair picking up tissue paper bits.

This is basically a Van De Graaff Generator.

Try attaching a wire from the machine chassis (metal) to a metal tap at your sink.

Do you still get a shock?

Not sure where you are and what your electric supply is.

I'm in Australia and our AC plugs have a third pin which is connected to our meter box which is then connected to an outside GROUND ROD.

Perhaps the AC power you are using has no ground or only a 2 pin connection. I which case I would add a three wire plug to the treadmill and the ground pin would connect to the treadmill's metal chassis by a screw or bolt.

Anti static spray may also help

Lifefitness treadmill belt sticks even though wax bag is full

It may not be sticking, but instead slipping on the front roller. You can resolve this by simply tightening the running belt. This adjustment will be done by using the rear roller.

Control panel shocks

This is a common occurrence as we enter the dry season. Static electricity will build up as you walk/run on your machine. There are many factors which make the problem more or less evident - the type of walking belt and deck, design of the treadmill, type of walking shoes, etc.

Some treadmills have a grounding wire from the console to the frame of the treadmill as well as a grounding wire from the rear roller to the frame of the treadmill. Check to see if these are in place, or have a qualified technician check this.

One common solution is simply to add a humidifier to the room where the treadmill is located. Raising the humidity will greatly reduce the static shock problem

I have a bodyguard t260 treadmill and when I run on it there is a great deal of static electricity that shocks me when I touch the treadmill handles

The shock is a build up of static electricity on your body called Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Friction between the walking board and belt can generate static electricity.

If experienced, the shock is not harmful or dangerous.
