Question about Windsor SR12 Sensor Bagged Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

My Dirt Devil Vibe bagless vacuum started giving off a burning smell. The brush roller was jammed with hair. I immediately shut it off and cut the hair out of the rollers with scissors until it turned freely. When I turned it back on, the smell was gone but there's no suction now. Did I ruin the belt or something else?

It's more likely there's a clog in the hose somewhere, possibly where it connects to the power nozzle. Detach hose and check the PN.
If there's no clog in the PN, detach hose completely from machine and try to drop a marble or coin through the hose. If it doesn't fall through, there's a clog that needs removed/cleared. Hold PN end of hose tightly to tank of vacuum and turn on. That may be enough to **** the clog through. If not, use a canister or shop vacuum to blow the clog out.

Dirt devil breeze bagless height adjustment mafunction

Hi there! If your vacuum is suddenly hard to push your roller lifter assembly, which controls the automatic height adjustment, may be damaged or broken. Check your roller lifter assembly located underneath your unit for damages. Also, your brushes help to maneuver through carpet, check that your brushes are still spinning. If not, replace the belt on your vacuum. I have included a link where you may visit to purchase a replacement belt for your vacuum. Hope this helps!

How do you go about cleaning the rotating brush on the dirt devil bagless vacuum?

Using a sharp pocket knife or a utility knife making a single cut across the length of the roller is a good way to start. Then it is just a matter of pulling the strands or fabric and hair, etc., off. I like to inspect the end caps and bearings as well. A touch of grease of oil can help increase the life of your roller as well. ( for the bearings)

I dont have a manual for the dirt devil vibe bagless cleaner. It's depositing dirt instead of picking it up. Is there a belt? i don't see one and maybe that's why

Information on your Dirt Devil Vibe Bagless Quick Vac M084500V can be found here:

http://www.dirtdevil.com/products/details.aspx?id=M084500V#parts

A link is available to download the manual as well as for replacement parts.

Yes this model has a belt to run the power brush; the manual has replacement instructions.

If dirst is being left behind it could also be a problem with a blockage, overfilled dirt cotnainer, or problem with the filter.

Dirt Devil R088100. Cloth Was Sucked Into Hole Below Dirt Holder

Brad, Hopefully it is the belt that you smell burning. I would start by removing the underneath side of the vacuum head. Normally just a few screws that are meant to be remove for general maintanence and circumstances such as this. After removing the screws this should reveal the dirty side of life to you. You may need to remove the roller brush, and inspect the ends to make sure the brush rolls freely while holding the ends. If not the ends may need to be cleaned of hair and strings: ends should pop of and a shaft runs through the middle connecting them. Clean and replace. Move on up the path the dirt travels. The neck where the head and vacuum come together is the next jamming point, if this is where the cloth is lodged chances are the motor may have over heated due to clogging. Your vacuum may have a automatic shut off. You will need to contact Dirt Devil to see if there is a reset for the motor. There are propellers / fan blades at the end of the neck just before the motor housing. This is most likely where the clothe has logged itself causing the brushes on the electric motor to emit the burning smell, if you can remove all obstructions and the unit still does not turn on, check with dirt devil about the reset, Hope this helps.

When I sart to run my bagless vacuum, it runs for a second and then shuts off. I replaced the belt and the filter. The repairman told me that on bagless vaccuums, the motor and bearings get clogged w

take the brush roller off and on the ends are the bearing caps.try to take those off and clean the bearings ,carpet strands and hair will cause that.after you do that make sure the roller turns freely if not then the bearings might be bad and if thats the case you might have to order a new brush rollersome bearing caps unscrew and others pull off

Dirt Devil Jaguar Bagless Upright Burning Smell

take the belt off again you will see burnt rubber from the old belt stuck to the motor shaft.you can take a fine piece of emery cloth and clean the shaft down to its polished finish.always good to do this after each belt.check the brush roller and see if there are any signsd of plastic melted.make sure it turns freely if not the brush roller might be siezing uo on youhave you cleaned the hepa filter?does it smell like wires burning or rubber.with it unlugged take it apart to the motor and take a fine iece of emery cloth and go over the motor armature .then try it again.you can take all the filters out and run it without the filters.that will help you narrow it down.please leave feedback
