It worked great until a few weeks ago. The volume control on the soundbar turns on at the full volume even at lowest setting. I removed all the screws on the soundbar but can't figure out how to take it apart.

Since it has been working perfectly, you need you change the control knob, there may be a pershal contact that is preventing it from controlling the volume.

Looks like you are going to have to replace the potentiometer, AKA volume control. It must be shorted out inside (probably) or knob came off the shaft. (doubtful)

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer hope this helps

Volume adjuster stays on one level can not increase or reduce volume

The Potentiometer/switch (the rotary knob to adjust the volume) is probably faulty. The original is a 9mm B50K panel pot/switch. I'm on the hunt right now for a replacement.

If I can't get one, I'll have repair it using substitute parts, specifically an appropriately sized SPST switch for the power circuit and a regular B50K potentiometer to adjust the volume.

Volume won't stay set

There have been many new things that have been introduced when Google bought Youtube, and I believe that one of them is that it resets the computers speaker volume all they way up, the best I can currently suggest is that you leave the computer volume up and turn the physical speaker volume down, and it should be fine.

Hope this has helped,
