Question about Samsung SyncMaster 204B 20.1" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor Splitter I have an IBM thinkpad docking station that has only one monitor port on the back. I bought a new monitor and wanted to run dual monitors but my question is. If I buy a Y splitter cable to hook up both monitors, will that make them both display the same thing or can I still use the dual monitor setting and have two different things going on the two monitors?

A display splitter will only mirror the screens, you cannot extend the desktop via a splitter.

Most portables cannot support dual monitors without a docking station.

USB ports in docking station stopped working suddenly

I was having the same problem - the USB ports seemed to have stopped working so I could not use the mouse, keyboard, or printer, even though the monitors and power could still operate through the docking station. Finally, I just unplugged the docking station for 30 seconds, plugged it back in, and everything resumed working. I was surprised it was that simple, but it's working for the moment.
