Question about Toys

Open Question

Have a Scoobug that hasn't been used in two years. I charged the batteries, cleaned the thing.. and replaced an inline fuse.... Now, I turn the key... and the thing takes off at full speed!. The throttle is in the 'off' position - as I turn the throttle, it seems to make it the speed change a little but?!?!? I took it apart to clean it... and it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: new battery won't take charge

Hello, and how are you. It could possibly be the charger itself If everything else seems fine. If all wire connections at the starter and the battery are tight, clean and no cuts any where on the wires them selves.I would try a new charger. Another thing is you could see if someone could check the wires with a meter to see if there are any unnoticeable breaks in the wires.

SOURCE: Voyage 200 won't turn on

I've fixed my Voyage 200!! I fixed it using the 3rd solution listed below. I've placed them all in there in case the one I used din't work. The funny thing is the solutions listed weren't even for the Voyage 200. I mistakenly tried the wrong one, but it worked!! I've also posted some soultions listed for the Voyage 200 just incase the others don't work and the website I found these solutions can be found here. Good Luck!!

Website:
http://epsstore.ti.com/OA_HTML/csksxvm.jsp?nSetId=85103&nUsePub=NO&jttst0=6_23871,23871,-1,0,&jtfm0=&etfm1=&jfn=ZG1C0B48595DC76138EFAD7BAC9C1E63B698A69C9FCFEA6C84DEE9934631AC138649F2CD10EBEEF5C5E390C0B8C5F215C2F3

List of solutions that worked for me:

  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the [2nd] key followed by pressing and releasing the up arrow; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the down arrow.
  3. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the CLEAR key. While holding CLEAR, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared". Release the CLEAR key and then press it one more time to remove the message. (worked for me!! Never actually said "Ram Cleared" just had a long box across the screen that filled up and POOF it was back!!)
  4. Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the DEL key. While holding DEL, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.
  5. Remove all of the batteries including the round lithium battery for 5 minutes. After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and turn the calculator on. Adjust the contrast if necessary.
Voyage Solutions:

For the TI-89 Family, TI-92 Family, and Voyage™ 200:
  1. Try a new set of batteries (including the backup battery).
  2. Adjust the contrast by pressing and releasing the Diamond Key key followed by pressing and releasing the [+] key; repeat as necessary. To adjust or lighten the display, use the [-] key.
  3. Users of the TI-89 Titanium or Voyage 200 should see the following case before performing the following reset procedure to prevent the loss of valuable Apps.
On the TI-92 family or Voyage 200, hold the [2nd] key and the [hand] key, then press and release the [on] key. On the TI-89 family, press and hold the [2nd] key, left arrow, and right arrow; then press and release the [on] key. This should reinitialize the operating system, in which you should see a progress bar filling on the screen.
  4. Remove one of the AAA or AA batteries. Press and hold the [APPS] key, and while holding the [APPS] key, replace the battery and turn the unit on. TI-89, 92 Plus, or Voyage 200 users should see "Press I to install code...", and should press the [9] key. The calculator should then say, "Waiting to receive...". TI-89 Titanium users should see "Waiting to receive..." or "Waiting to received OS...". You will need to restore the calculator's operating system.

SOURCE: rode all day in snow brought inside to charge now power irratic

I would take the motor controller out, remove the end cap without wire on it and smell the insides. If it smells burned, you need to take out the other 5 screws and see what smoked. In mine, I had corrosion and Q5 was missing 25% of the package. I cleaned the corrosion with a old tooth brush and 99.9% alcohol that I had. Replaced the part and all was fine. There is a trick to installing the bracket that holds Q5 and D11 to the case (a heatsink). I put the board and wires in the case and secured with 4 screws. I put the assembly in a vise with the side hole on the bottom. Align the bracket with the outside hole on top of Q5 and D11 (use a small wire that goes thru both holes) I took an x-acto blade- a flat one and slid it on top of the bracket that is now laying on top of Q5 and D11. By pulling up slightly you can put pressure on the bracket holding it in place. Insert the retaining screw and other end cap.

SOURCE: Check engine light is on and high idle (1500rpm)

Some times the E.G.R. will stick half open. This will make the engine surge or have high idle. Try replaceing the E.G.R. located under the upper intake. Do not go with after market E.G.R. The spring in them are to powrefil and the E.G.R. wil not open. Also try replaceing the O2 sensors. This could give the engine more fuel thus a higher idle. Some vehicles the T.P.S. can be ajusted, do some checking to see if yours is adjustable.

Please contact me if your problem presists.
Thanks, Charlie

SOURCE: only goes in reverse after recent charging

I would replace the high/low switch and the reverse switch.
I had the same problem of it not going forward, but I just replaced the high/low switch. It turns out 1 month later I had to replace the reverse switch.
Here is the link to the site that I found my switches on.

Sounds like an inline fuse. check for fuses in cable wires. if not check connection under dash where wiring harness plugs in to steering column.

Had to replace fuse inline alternator how can I transfer the inline fuse to a different wire

the cable /fuse to alternator has nothing to do with the start and run function if the battery is charged up and in good condition ,sounds like the main battery cables have a bad contact/connection or battery is shot<follow battery cables and remove all points of connection in engine bay area clean contacts with sandpaper and resecure all connections 1 AT A TIME! to make sure none are swapped around by mistake ) on both earth cable/negative and the positive/power cables, make sure terminals on battery are clean and tight , try boosting/jump starting your battery with jumper cables connected from another cars battery positive to positive .........negative to negative and see if it starts ,i doubt the problem of starting up is the alternator unless battery is flat and not being charged by alternator ,by jump starting with another baterry will give you the answer once all baterry cables and connections are clean and secure

Plugged in not charging

It could be a few things. The most common is that the charger was zapped during a lightning storm or a power surge. This would require you to replace the charger. Another reason could be that your battery voltage level is too low some chargers will not come on if the voltage level is below 16v. This sometimes requires the batteries to be replaced. Get them load tested before you replace them by your local battery shop to determine if they need to be charged or replaced. The last thing that is not very common but happens is that the inline fuse has been blown. If this has happened, you will need a qualified service tech to determine the reason the fuse was blown. This should never be the problem unless ther is a serious problem with your wiring.

Check the inline fuse that is normally close to the battery. Also try again with the battery connected to the charger. Most batteries only have a life of around 5 to 6 years, often less on a bike due to vibration.

My Craftsman 16 hp and 42 battery not charging is it normal?

get mower started and check the charging voltage at battery. it should be at least 13.5 at battery.check cables to battery and the inline charging fuse, its located somewhere in charging system.if its charging, but battery is still dead. it could be a bad battery. or alternator. . Examine the lawn mower electrical system by starting the lawn mower up, and then removing the battery. If the lawn mower turns off after the battery is disconnected, the lawn mower electrical system is the culprit.
its a good possibility that the battery is bad if it has been in use for 4-5 years.
check the fuses first. good-day !

Unfortunately, batteries have a shelf life. If the player sat for three years without being charged, the battery is probably bad. The chemical reactions inside the battery continue, even when it's not charged.

My advice is to replace the battery if possible.

Good luck!

Burning out fuses on trolling motor at battery

not enough info. I went the the min kota website, they show four maxxum 80's at different voltages.is it a 12v 24v or larger? without a year model I'll have no reference to what wiring schematic Is the fuse connected inline with the trolling motor? what size amp fuse are you burning up? well I can give you some troubleshooting tips. tools to buy (1) amp gauge. if you are unfamilier with amp gauges make sure you get instruction book with gauge or you could burn yourself. Toubleshooting(1) Remove cover off minn kota trolling motor. black cover ontop of unit were the foot control wires go into.turn over foot control remove cover (2) check for corrosion. any exposed terminals should be cleaned.(3) go to your batteries and clean all connections. make sure the batteries are fully charged.(4) take amp gauge and test positive wire for amp draw as you tun on trollling motor and run it through all speeds. if batteries are in the rear away from trolling motor get a 2nd person to control trolling motor. if the trolling motor is more than a 12v system you will have more than one positive lead to test.GOAL. What your trying to find out is how many amps the trolling motor is really pulling. and at what speeds. under a load in the water and out of the water.how many more amps than the fuse raiting? newer trolling motors come with inline breakers not fuses so I'm guessing your using 30 amp fuses. again without more info i can only guess.
