You may have a failure of the H.V. rectifier. I would recommend that a trained technician replace this part due to the high voltage potential.

SOURCE: fuse location

Similar is the Spacemaker II [JEM25Gy001]. On this model [unplug!] remove the outer wrap around sheet metal cover by removing the Phillips head screws on the side and the back. The cover slides towards the back to release slotted fittings on the front sides and then lifts up and off. You may have to gently spread the lower portion of the cover as you lift up. The fuse is readily visible on the top right side. Most hard ware stores carry the 15 amp ceramic fuse for microwaves. The fuse may not look "blown" but still be cooked. The light assembly is on the right side and you need to replace the whole light bulb holder and light bulb. It is 120v 25watt bulb. I could only find a 20 watt, but 20 watts works just as well. OK it isn't quite as bright but you'll never notice the difference, trust me. Replace cover and screws in reverse order. Fini! -micromaniaman

SOURCE: GE spacemaker otr microwave - place of fuse - how

Hello there

  1. Unplug your microwave. Although it might seem like no electrical current could possibly be running through your appliance, it could still have stored electrical current somewhere in the system. Be safe rather than sorry and unplug it before you begin.
  2. Step 2 remove the screws that are on the very edge of the back of the microwave on both sides and there are 4 or 6 screws under the bottom of the unit

  3. Step 3 remove the cover usually it will slide out towards the back
  4. You may have to use a small flat tip screwdriver to get it to start to move

  5. Step 4 If you look towards the front on the sides youshould see sonme wires and a circuit board the fuse will be on this board
  6. Remove the bad fuse . Go to your local hardware store and pick up a matching fuse. Make sure you check the model numbers of the fuse as well to be sure you get the right component
  7. . Install the new fuse and than before you put the cover back on test it out it should now work if so put everything back together.
  8. If it dosent you probably have a part on the circuit board that has blown in that caste you may want to bring it to a a repair shop and get a quote on how much it would be to fix it.
  9. Sometimes the repairs can be more than what you paid for the microwave so be carefull here ok?
  10. I hope that this has been very helpful for you
  11. Best regards Michael

Where is the fuse located in a GE Spacemaker II microwave model number J EM824_ _ _ ? I can't read the rest of the model number.

If the microwave control panel doesn't light up, then your fuse is blown. unplug the microwave. unscrew the vent grill, (2) screws at the top of the microwave. then you should see 1 screw holding the control panel. after removing that screw, gently push up then out. there should be a metal plate on top of the control panel. remove that plate and the fuse will be in that opening. remove the fuse and check for continuity across the fuse. Replace fuse and microwave should begin working.

My ge profile spacemaker II microwave went dark, no lights of any kind and no sound or response when pressing any button. tried resetting the circuit breaker but no change

Did you check the internal fuse? Often when everything is dark the fuse that protects the microwave is blown. Take the old fuse to your local hardware store and they will have a replacement for you. Should cost less than $5.

Ge spacemaker runs but wont heat

Hi, there are three issues that will cause a no heat situation in a microwave. these issue are a failed Magnetron, busted cut-off fuse and, failed diode.

I recommend checking all these area that are located inside the microwave for faults.

The most common issue will be a failed Magnetron.

The diode and, fuse will be located on the noise filter assembly.
