How do I open the case and remove the hard drive?

Unplug the unit from electricity, wash & dry your hands, take steps to avoid you transmitting static electricity(look it up if you are not familiar). There are several sheet metal screws around the edge in the back of your CPU. Remove the ones that appear to join the outer lip to the inner lip all the way around. The front & back should now separate into 2 pieces. One the shell & the other the bulk of the system. The hard drive is usually located on a standard mounting shelf by itself with 1 or 2 small screws holding it in on the side with 2 wire connections in the back. The larger is a ribbon cable the is used for data & the other is the power cable. pull out the cables, unscrew the screws & the hard drive slides out. Some boxes may have something that blocks your access to screws, if so, temporarily remove them so you can work. If you are not sure of a potential problem...take a smart phone picture so you can see how it goes back together.

Open clam-shell type case by pushing buttons on rear top and rear bottom of case and pulling case open like a book. Once case is opened, you\'ll see the hard drive in the right half (as viewed from the back of the PC) Pull the power and data cable from back of the hard drive. Squeeze ends of green plastic slides and pull hard drive from enclosure.

Can you tell me step by step directions on how to reseat my hard drive on a dell inspiron 1545?

Turn off power, remove battery.
Flip it over and look to the bottom right. Remove the 4 screws with a small Phillips screw driver.
Pull out hard drive slot. Remove the screws attaching the slot, fix new hard drive in old hard drive's place.
Put screws back in, plug back in battery.
It really doesn't get any easier than this, kudos to Dell for making it easily serviceable.

Remove hard drive on Dell pp10s

Remove the power cord, remove the battery, turn the laptop over and remove the screws from the cover that houses the hard drive. Most times there will be an icon of circular discs where the drive is located. Once the drive is exposed, remove any screws if any that hold it in place then carefully take the drive out. You will probably have to remove screws from the hard drive caddy once you remove the drive from the computer.

If the drive is not on the bottom then it will be located under the keyboard or palmrest.

I want to seperate the case on my iomega gdhdu2 1tb external drive

Hello, nappindylan.
With a screwdriver, you will be able to remove the shell, revealing your internal hard drive.
You will then see two cables, pull these two cables from the internal hard drive. There may also be further screws holding down the hard drive inside, remove those, as well.
You will then be able to pull the hard drive out from its case.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

The system is not reading any games

Hello there,
The reason your system is not reading any game is because the lens is not working, to fix this, follow the steps below;
  1. Unplug the power cable, video cable and controllers and remove any discs from the disc drive
  2. Remove the rubber foot on the left side of the PS3, unscrew the security screw and slide off the top lid.
  3. Unscrew all nine screws under the lid and lift off this section to reveal the inside. Be sure to unplug the cable that connects to this lid before completely removing it.
  4. Remove the gray box. This is the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the power supply and the cable connecting it to the motherboard
  5. Remove the five screws on the outside of the Blu-ray drive to remove the metal shell.
  6. Remove the next set of screws on the black plastic cover to gain access to the inside of the Blu-ray drive. Disconnect the red and black cable to pull the two plastic halves apart.
  7. Remove the cables and brackets and screws holding the laser in place and slide off the laser module. Be sure to check the model number on the laser to make sure you purchase the right replacement model.
  8. Replace with new laser module, reverse your steps and reassemble the PS3.
