Question about Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U Plasma TV
If I remember correctly, that generally means that your D board will need to be replaced. Is your tv still under warranty? If so, definitely call Panasonic to see what they can do for you. If you're out of warranty, it's still worth a shot to give them a call because some people have had luck and been helped with repair/replacement costs even though they're out of warranty.
I'm doing factual research for a potential class action suit on the blinking light problems that these Panasonic plasmas are becoming known to exhibit. I'd definitely be interested to know more about your personal experience with the television and with Panasonic, if you choose to contact them about the problem. If you'd be willing to share your story with me, please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.

SOURCE: Power light blinking 2 times
2 blinks means the unit is having problem with 12 volt supply.
while power on you can check 12DC on power supply before shutdown.if the voltage is constant before shut down I would recommend to replace D board.

Unfortunately this appears to be a common issue developing with these Panasonic sets i.e the '7 blinks of death'!
Several customers are complaining about it. The problem is caused by one, both, or all of the following boards: SC board, SD board, and SU board.
Most commonly, the SC board is the one that has failed and because Panasonic have received so many complaints about this issue they are now agreeing to replace the SC board under extended warranty.
However this is not widely known amongst the general public and Panasonic have kept it very quiet.
I would suggest that you make contact with the Panasonic Concierge service centre. Make them aware that you are aware of the SC board issue and that there is an extended warranty on this and ask them to replace it.
However if it happens that one of the other boards has failed be aware that Panasonic are not covering these under warranty and you will be charged for the repair in this case.
The Panasonic Concierge service is available from here
Thanks for using FixYa.
