I have an older Kenmore 80 series dryer.Suddenly the dryer is not heating.

It most likely is the heater element which is fairly easy to replace. Unplug the dryer and check inside the dryer vent hose for blockage. If you live in an area where their is snow check outside for blockage. if their was a blockage the limit on top the heater may have tripped. Unplug the dryer before testing the various components for open. open means you cannot get a resistance reading on a component. Find the open part and that is where the problem will e' things to check. Limits: limits trip in case of overheat to stop dryer fires. any Limit that is open will cause a no heat situation. The red wires are all connected to the heater circuit. The motor runs on 120 volts and is not wired into the heater circuit so it will run even if the heater is broken. The motor is on neutral (middle wire) and L-1. The heater is on l-1 and l-2. So if you have a bad breaker and one of them are tripped it may run but no heat so check the 30 amp dryer breaker first. Next check them limits for open. They are basically like a light bulb. if they go out then no power can get to the heater because they interupt the flow of power. The timer can also interupt the flow of power to the heater so if everything else is fine then the timer may be internally shot. Check out this low budget video i made:

Dryer wont heat where is the fuse? speed queen

I do not believe it is a fuse, the dryer has a heater coil very much like a space heater contained in an air box inside of the dryer. If this heater coil breaks or burns into, then no heat. My 30 year old dryer has had two That I had to replace over the years. in order to get to this coil, youhave to take the back off.

Dryer works but has no heat. Voltage is good. Could it be the TCO?

I suspect that your heater strips in the dryer have burned out. Just to give you an idea, I have replaced my heater strips in my 40+ year Whirlpool dryer two additional times over the years. You will have to take the back off of the dryer after disconnection the 220V plug and examine the heater strips.

Either heater is burned up, or high limit is bad. If you take dryer apart and get to heater you will be able to visibly see the broken heater wire. To check high limit switch disconnect the only two wires on the switch and using Ohm meter put one lead on each terminal. Should read closed if switch is good. High limit switch is located on panel covering heater coils If heater is not broken, and high limit switch is closed then you are losing power on your temperature control.

How do you replace the thermal fuse?

The kenmore fuse mounts on the dryer blower housing. On a gas model this fuse when blown will allow the dryer to run however on an electric model this fuse will kill the dryer. The maytag fuse mounts on the right hand side of the heater. Note: the 2 fuses that come in the kit are rated for gas or electric dryers. When this fuse blows the dryer will be dead. The GE fuse mounts in the rear on the heater element pan. When this fuse blows the dryer will continue to run but their will be no heat. Dryer duct fuses are used on various brands of dryers as a back up they usually come in pairs with one mounted on the heater and another near the blower. The kenmore hi limit will kill the heater element but not kill the machine, it mounts on top of the heater housing. The bottom limit comes with it, always replace them both when repairing the dryer.

Maytag elec. neptune dryer won't heat

The first thing I would check would be your high limit thermostat. It is located near the heater and is wired in series with the heater. The contacts in a high limit thermostat remain closed at temperatures below 250 degrees. The contacts will open and interrupt the circuit to the heater when the operating thermostat, thermistor or electronic control fails to cycle properly. The most common condition that causes the high limit thermostat to operate are vent restrictions, blower failure or a defective operating thermostat or thermistor.
If those are good, then,

Check your dryer heater. With both heater power terminals disconnected you can check for resistance. The typical dryer heater resistance is around 20 Ohms.
If you can not read resistance on the dryer heater then it is an open circuit and needs replaced. Also if your meter indicated an electrical path between either of the heater terminals to the heater frame (ground) then it’s bad. The heater must be isolated from its mounting frame.

Check the blower wheel and filter housing then replace the fuse which mounts on the heater chamber right next to the heatter, the same screw which holds down the heater holds the fuse to the side of the heater.
