Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

LG washing machine......LE error code on WM-1832cw After reading alot of the already posted fixes on this issue, I replaced the Hall effect sensor in hopes that this would fix my problem. However, I still have the problem. When I spin the drum by hand, at a certain speed, its like the drum locks up and skips to a stop. When I unplug the motor wiring harness from the control board, I can spin the drum freely with no stopping or issues. I don't want to continue to keep changing parts in hopes that I finally get the right part replaced. To me, now, its either the motor assembly, (rotor and stator), the control board or a bering on the drum. (although from the looks of things, it seems to spin freely without any wobble or sound). For me to get parts, I have to order them and they are at least 3 days away via courier. Laundry is piling up now. What is the next suggested step? What should be replaced or checked?

Thanks for your input. After some more research, I put everything back together, ran a few QC checks as I found in the service manual. Ran the machine at various RPM's and reversed direction and everything worked just fine. Also, when running on high speed, a lot of "gunk" seemed come loose and I figure it is the build up of soap and what-not that could have affected some sensors. Successfully ran a quick rinse/spin cycle and continued to run a few more wash cycles to clean out machine. All is working just fine now. I guess all that was needed was the hall effect sensor. Thanks

Yup....way ahead of you. I have tried the "Afresh" product, but haven't had great results. I found some stuff called "smellywasher" by doing some online surfing and it seems to be very good. Alot of positive feedback anyhow, so I have ordered some and gonna give it a try. The other thing I learned in all this going on is that I am using too much detergent. Gonna cut it back a bit and hope that will prolong any further issues as well.
    Cheers

If the drum rotates freely with out the belt on or when the power is disconected . then it's not a mech problem but electrical . most mfg repl the motor and the controller together . so i would re ck the drum rotation for smothness .and ck the back for any sign's or leakage . if it has a bad brg it could lock up . and if you deceide the repl the electrical i would go for the controller first then the motor . . but do ck on the cost as some offer a kit with motor and controller and it less expensive than one at a time .. mm hope this will give you some insight . feed back pls . mm

when it comes to detergent / make sure you use ( H E ) you use less and it reduces suds . here is the tip after a few min 2 to 3 open the door and feel the water if its slippery to the feel thats enough and if its not slick you need more. the amount of soil in the wash .will determine the amount . like white's need less 2 table or 2 to 3 oz and heavy soil like the shop or boys need a little more . . just enough to slicken the water after 2 to 3 min of wash will be enough .. hope this help[s ,mm ..

LE error (checked stator and replaced HAll sensor already)

If the control board does not receive the input it will not operate does the door lock? However:
The attachment shows how to diagnose and repair a failed hall sensor, the usual cause of
an LE error code.

DO NOT replace the stator until the hall sensor has been tested. 98% of LE error codes are
caused by failed hall sensors.

[DD motor SVC check process ]

Pre Check
1) Gentle wash cycles, such as Perm Press, Delicates, Hand Wash, and Wool/Silk should only be used for
smaller loads. Because these cycles are more gentle in tumbling and spinning, putting too much in the
drum can register an issue with the motor. Remove items, reset unit and test with a Rinse/Spin cycle.
2) Don't replace the PCB when the hall sensor is replaced.
Check the hall sensor as shown in the new process.
O have a file I can send but can not upload here if you want it, contact me melissamaemartin@yahoo.com please put hall sensor in subject line. Thanks

Le error sensor WM 2277 HS problem and solution please

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

LE error in your LG front load washer is displayed when either the motor is not working or the control board thinks that the motor is locked up. A Hall Effect sensor is used in these washers which monitors the speed and direction of the motor and then forwards this information to the control board. Hope you understand by now that this LE error is displayed when there is an issue with the motor or when the Hall Effect sensor sends wrong signal to the control. Conclusion is you'll have to check both motor and hall sensor and replace the part# that is bad, usually I have seen the sensor going bad. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have an lg tromm front load washer and it keeps displaying an LE code. Is there a fix for it

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. LE error message indicates the control board has detected that the motor is either not turning, or has locked up for some reason. Monitoring the motor is the job of the Hall Effect sensor board which constantly determines the direction and speed of the motor and feeds that information back to the control board. If there is a problem between what the motor should be doing and what the hall effect sensor says the motor is doing, the 'LE' will be displayed and the cycle will be stopped. The hall sensor is rather easy to replace, and is covered by a seven year part warranty (in US). It only takes around half hour to replace it with a new one. Take the back cover off. Take the big nut off and remove the motor rotor. Remove the bolts holding the motor windings. Remove the electric plug on the sensor and unclip it from the motor winding. Please do rate the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee
