You might be able to get a part for it from Brother, but you might have to have an authorized Brother repair facility order it for you. I went through this with HP one time, and the authorized dealer wanted to charge me for the repair as well, so I ended up getting a broken printer and scavaging parts.
Contact Brother to see if they can help you, here's their website:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

The paper keeps jamming in behind the drum, and when removed, the papper is heat damaged in my brother mfc9450cdn

The paper is clearly not feeding properly, that's why it's heat damaged when you open up the unit.

The 2 most likely causes are:
1. Paper path and/or printer mechanics are blocked by something foreign - this could be a stray piece of paper (simple fix) or a piece of the printer that has broken off (not so simple).
2. Something has broken/malfunctioned such that the mechanism that feeds the paper is either not feeding any more, or is blocked somehow.

Tough break if the cause is item 2; you'll need to have the printer serviced (if it's worthwhile based on age/condition), or replaced.

To determine if you're lucky and the cause is item 1, unplug the printer from power, remove the toner cartridge(s) and remove the drum (protect the drum from intense direct light). Visually inspect the inside of the printer to ensure every scrap of paper or clump of toner is cleaned out. Also inspect the drum/toner cartridge for damage and to ensure nothing is stuck on either - clean as necessary.

One final thought - if you're using paper that's too thick for the printer to handle, this can also happen. In that case, of course, clean up the printer (as advised above) and use normal paper. Refer to the printer documentation to see what weight of paper is compatible with it.

Good luck,
DH

I have a Riso GR 3750 and have a T 2 and T1 error and can not pull out the drum (we don't get a green light) we also tried shutting down while holding the reset button to no avail. when we accidentally...

The syncronicity of feeding mechanism and drum is lost. The sound was the jumping of the toothed belt.
Seems that the stripping finger or the blower is stuck in the clamp mechanism blocking the drum moving forward. This problem can be caused by a worn rubber reel. So the stripping finger is not lifted enough any more.
Remove the back cover. Locate and check the rubber reel running at the excenter of the print drum. Do not turn the machine in forward direction till this is solved. Else you may damage the clamp mechanism.
To restore synchronicity you have to remove tension of the toothed belt by loosening the 3 screws around the paper feed clutch. Turn the mechanism clockwise and fix a screw temporarily in this position. Now it should be easy to lift the toothed belt over a tooth, moving a bit, and so on. You have to move the drum driving mechanism till the sensor there meets the small hole. At this position the sensor at the paper feed mechanism should match the cutted semi-circle. Synchronicity restored. Restore tension at thoothed belt and test.

My HP laser printer 1300 had a paper jam

When printing or copying, paper will not pick up or feed into the HP LaserJet 1000, 1200 or 1300 series product causing paper jams or wrinkled output. Symptoms are as follows:
  • The pickup roller will spin and try to pick paper.
  • The paper will partially feed into the product accompanied by a crackling, crunching noise then jamming.
  • The paper may feed all the way through the paper path accompanied by a crackling, crunching noise. The output will be skewed and wrinkled.
SOLUTION: Reposition the black Mylar light shields back into the proper position.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  2. Remove the paper and paper input tray.
  3. Slide hands, palms side up, into the paper input tray cavity (see Figure 1) until the fingertips reach the end of the cavity. Figure 1: Paper input tray cavityc00068598.jpg
  4. Bend fingers up to push the black Mylar light shields back into place. The proper position of the black Mylar light shield will be flat.
  5. Reconnect the power cord.
  6. Print a self-test/configuration page to verify product is functioning correctly.

PAPER LIGHT FLASHING RED BUT MACHINE HAS PAPER IN IT

Paper light flashing could mean several things on this machine.

There could be a paper jam in the machine. Open the front cover remove the drum and toner and look in the machine. Open the back cover and look for a Jam as well.

Try putting a piece of paper in the manual feed tray which is right above the paper tray, sometimes on certain documents the margins are too big and asks to go into the manual feed slot.

What kind of back door do you have on your machine. Does it have a knob that you twist to get it off or does it have pieces on the left and right you have to pinch to get it off. Reason for asking....

There were two versions of this machine put out that had two different service stations and paper feed mechanisms. One version had a motor for the paper feed mechanism and a motor for the service station. The other version just had a motor for the paper feed mechanism and service station movement was tied in to this motor This was done with an altered gear mechanism in the service station. This gear mechanism was cheap and it broke easily. When it breaks you get a knocking/grinding noise and no paper feed or service station movement. It can't be fixed.

THIS PROBLEM IS IN THE MACHINES THAT HAVE THE PINCH OFF BACK DOOR!!!

Hope this helps.

Cannon pixma 1600

I had the same problem, and found that the sheet feeder mechanism was intermittent. The problem seems to be that the lubricating grease inside the mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it) becomes too slippery and stops picking up the activating arm which allows the cam unit to move to kick the top sheet of paper into the rubber feed wheel.
The repair was extremely difficult because it involved taking most of the printer apart to get to the ink pump/sheet feeder mechanism.(white nylon round thing with gears on it), and then I tried quite a few lubricants (including no lubricant at all) but none of these worked reliably. Finally I tried a dab of automotive wheel bearing grease (it feels like glue), and this worked perfectly. I have had no more paper jam errors and no miss-feeds in about 7months of everyday use.

Paper light constantly flashes

That flashing paper light indicates a few things on these, most often it is related to paper not in tray or jammed/not picked up but I see in you case it isn't.......

Your light can also be indicating that the page size sent, it doesn't think it has so it is asking you to feed correct size paper as per document that you sent it, into the little slot at the front called the bypass...(change paper size setting in tray or document page size).

You can test if above is problem by unplugging USB turn off/on machine should come to green, press go button 5times supersuper fast, test print should print shortly.

If printing labels, card, transparencys or have setting as this paper type machine will default to manual pass (cause it needs to be feed those sort of things, straight, not from cassette.

It can also mean memory full or print overload, (pressing go button will start print of remaing data) Doc too complex

or Door open front or back

or even Clean Carona (blue slidy thing on drum)

Drum light fix below

Open cover

Press and hold down Go button for about 4 seconds until all the LEDs light up. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the Go button

Close cover

My copier makes a noisy sound

Check the crumpled paper. If it has an image, it has reached the drum and is crumpling at the fuser unit (part that gets hot). If that is the case the fuser gear and drive gear need to be replaced.
