may be you need to install audio driver, check it at device manager
follow this step:
go to device manager, look at device manager, is there any yellow mark (?) or (!)?if yes this mean you need to install audio driver, just insert your motherboard cd driver, then click install audio driver, follow instruction at installation until finish, if installation success at device manager the yellow mark will disappear, the try play sound, for example using windows media player, you will get sound at your speaker

How to reset settings on realtek hd audio manager

Hello

OK, all you need to do is to open the Manager from the start tray, once the manager is opened, Click on the speaker tab, and then on the Sound effect tab. You should see something like this now.

af0d934.jpg
Now just click on the reset tabs, this should then reset the manager to it's default settings.

Please let me know if this was helpful. Also,, let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

No sound

You can try bringing the computer to an earlier point by using a restore point. Make sure that you dont have your audio muted. Go into your device manager and go to sounds and audio devices (xp; its different for vista). If everything is 'drayed out'... go into start/run/ [then type] msconfig Under the tab 'services' look for something that says sound or audio on the far left column. On the far right column make sure it says 'running' if it says 'stoped' thats your problem. If you cant find anything, go to hp.com and download updated drivers.
