Sounds like the hard drive is on its way out.

If you can get hold of, or download and burn a copy of

A) Ultimate boot CD for windows
or
B) Ubuntu.

These can boot your PC without invoking your HDD, you may be able to access backup/cop your data across to a second or external HDD before it dies.

Laptop shuts down begining dump of memory runs check disk

Hello,

Your hard disk has developed errors.
This might be caused due to damaged files on your hard disk, or a program you recently installed which may have some errors.

If you recently installed a program, that does not work well with your computer, you might consider uninstalling it.

You should also consider performing a disk defragmentation to reorganize file on your computer.

To perform disk defragmentation, go to your "My Computer"
Select your Local Disk drive, then right click and select Properties.
Click on the "Tools" tab, then click on "Defragment Now"
After that, select the Local Disk C drive, then click on Defragment.

Thank you for using Fixya,
Kenneth

Hello!

Yours problem can be system, or hardware.
First try in bios disable integrated pheriperals, like modem, lan, sound, and try boot.
If the trouble still here, try install new system with full format hard drive.
If you still have a problem, you have some hardware problem, something like procesor heathing.

Beginning dump of physical memory

This could be pretty complex. The ATAPI.SYS file controls the Hard Drive and CD-Rom Drive. I would recommend reading this MS TechNet article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822051/ The article says that it's not uncommon for the problem to be caused by faulty memory or by problems in the mass storage controller subsystem, which makes sense since atapi.sys (a mass storage controller system file) is noted.
If you have multiple memory cards in the machine, it might not be a bad idea to take one out and try again. If the fails, keep swapping out memory cards until we either solve the problem, or elimite that as a cause.

Windows program shut down Laptop problem model-no-XPS M1530

As with any blue screen, this is an operating system error in which a driver or program has overstepped it's boundries by writing into an unauthorized section of the memroy, therefore causing the memory dump. You will need to run a system repiar or reload with your recovery disc or operating system disc in order to cure the problem. Start with the repair, if the rogue still persists, then you will need to wipe the hard drive and reload the operating system.

Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for running Windows XP if this is an upgrade - I had a computer that technically met the requirements, but boy did it run slow after I upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP. If your hard drive contains no programs, information that you can live without, then you can completely reformat the hard drive and start over from scratch. If it does contain important programs, burn them to CD or DVD - and make sure that your computer can read the files after you are done burning - and then reformat your hard drive.

Hard drive controller

Certain diags only test the diagnostic tracks. That is what's passing more than likely. You should boot the laptop in safe mode (F8) and click start, run, type in cmd, hit enter and type scandisk. This will do a complete scan on the drive. If there are any errors replace the drive.

Your hard drive crashed. You need to buy a new hard drive and restore your computer using the restore disks. You can buy a hard drive here: http://www.interproshop.com/commerce/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=13055&czuid=1167865660865 They also sell larger hard drives. If you dont have a restore disk, you'll need to contact HP and they'll send you one. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=423721&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=9&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us
