Open Question

I dropped my iphone in a pint of cider. turned it off n dryed it out. after about a week or 2 it started working. A few weeks later it stoped working however, now i plug in the charger it starts to charge but wont get past the small red part of the display charging icon. Could this be a battery problem?

SOURCE: iphone wont start

Sounds like an internal fuse that Apple has in place to protect against overcharging ...... been there ... have that t-shirt ....

Since it is still under warranty, they obviously feel that you have voided the warranty ... by say, "unlocking" the iPhone ....... been there too .....

Somebody should be able to replace that fuse ... Apple can ....

SOURCE: Shows fully charged (plug icon), but isn't taking a charge. A;ready tried reboot/restore.

Get a can of air and blow it into the 30-pin connector and headphone jack to clear the phone of dust and build-up. This should clear up the problem. I learned this from an Apple Store Genius Bar associate.

SOURCE: I dropped my iPhone today - wont charge

After you dropped your iPhone I assume the battery connector to *********** board has moved.  Now you have to open your iPhone which follow link tells you very simply how to do it. and put the connector in to right spot.  Do not be afraid, it is not that difficult to do it but make sure you have the proper tools. I have finished to do that and my iPhone is completely fine.
Good luck!!!

What if you drop your iphone in water and put it in a bowl of rice a week later?

It's very unlikely for that to work a week later, but try it anyways. Good luck.

If i dropped iphone in the snow and couldn't find

It might work.
Remove the battery and dry the phone for a few days in a warm dry location. Replace the battery and charge the phone overnight then switch the phone on and see if it works, if not it may not be worth repairing, get a repair quote then you can decide whether to get a new phone.

Drove my '99 Stratus through high water & wont start 2 weeks later

If water went over the hood and into your air cleaner there's probably water in your engine. change your oil. Pull your spark plugs, leave them out for a few days to let any water in there dry out. pull your air cleaner, if it's wet, throw it away and get another one. After a few days pour some Marvel Mystery Oil into your spark plug tubes or spray PB Blaster (encase your pistons are rusted to the block)

This may not get it working, if there was water in the engine when your were trying to start it you may have bent the valves, water doesn't compress.

However I would do these things before condemning your engine.

My iphone will not read the sim card. The card works fine in another phone. My phone was submerged in a tub of greasy water and i am tryinng to restore it now.

Ben, Could you try dry it first? Do not turn on.
As you said that your card is not read by iphone, i can see that you already turn it on after it submerged in greasy water. I hope it doesn't short circuit yet. Use hair dryer, dry your iphone through the usb connection hole, leave for awhile, make sure it dry, then try again. Hope this will help. For future, if phone dropped in water, first thing to do is take off battery, or turn of completely then dry it before checking it still work or not. Thanks for reading.

Drop of liquid got into speaker and now there is no sound at all

Hi Danielle,

I can't stop smiling as I type :) My dog, Bessie, drools all over my laptop whenever I sit in front of the fire, it drives me nuts!
You can replace the actual speakers:
Manufacturer: DELL Part Number: TF182

Description: Inspiron series (E1505, 6400) speaker set
