Question about Acer Aspire 9300 Notebook
I found on this page a question which is like my question, so I signed in and posted my problem there (http://www.fixya.com/support/t14007-laptop_suddenly_stopped_working_mean).
I am sorry for the double post I don't know why it happened, but now I think it is better to ask it in a new "thread", because mttchelle's post wasn't the main question and I don't think that the answer fits for his/her question.
Now my problem, which wants to be solved, hehe:
If I turn my laptop (Acer Aspire 9302 WSMi) on it seems to work properly, I mean the sounds of ventilation etc., the light signs a.s.o.. But I can also hear after approx. 5-10 seconds a longer beep and two shorter beeps and the screen stays black.
- I tried out with restarting (Shut down with power button).
- I also did same with waiting a while between the start ups.
- I also did with lithium-Ion-battery taken out.
- I tried several Fn+* button-combination, which could shut down the screen.
I heard from somebody that these beeps means its anything with the keyboard or graphics, but he isn't sure about that.
I hope someone can give me advices, information and thank you for giving your help and try to solve the problem!
I hope my English is not that bad,
See you folks.
One long beep followed by 2 short beeps indicates a problem with the display adapter; which accounts for the black screen. A couple of questions for you: 1) is this a laptop that you use on a regular basis and this is the first time you had this problem? 2) have you installed any new programs and/or drivers? 3) Have you tried booting into safe mode? You may be able to get into your system that way, especially if you need to get information off of the HD. Let me know the answers to the questions.

Power on the notebook, just wait 10 minutes untill it power off itself.
I think it makes a memory check.
After that, just turn on again your laptop and presto!
it starts again.

Unfortunately, a black screen on ACER laptops is very common (too much indeed). This is "simply" due to a failing display chipset. The chip itself could be OK, but the welding on the motherboard is bad. Some "peak" technicians could re-weld the video and southbridge chipsets (both being 99% of the ACER laptop failures), bur theay are rare... And the professionals ask for the same price than a new mainboard... Until now, I had more than 40 ACER laptops in hands, and I begin to know the reputation of these PCs...

The beep codes that you have mentioned are concerned with the video card of the computer. It indicates that your computers video card has gone bad and needs to be replaced with a new one.
