Keeps knocking the electric off in the whole house

I would guess it is a short> possible causes:
1) outlet: turn off breaker to outlet pull cover off and look for burnt or loose wires
2) dryer cord: take back metal plate off of dryer look for burnt or loose wires
3) heating element
4) check all internal wiring for burnt or loose connections

The breaker for the dryer should be a 30 amp breaker, and should only trip that breaker. If it is tripping the main on the panel then something else is wrong. You will need to pull off the panel the the breaker box and pull out the dryer breaker and look to see if it burnt, make sure the wires are tight on the breaker, you may want to try a new breaker also. Hope this helps Tim

There should be a schematic on the inside of the back cover, sometimes it is located in the top control panel somewhere(timer panel)

Dryer will not heat up. can not get the top of dryer off to look at the wire diagram to be able to check fuses. MOdel FSE446RHS2 Frigidare.

I have the wiring diagram directly from Frigidaire. All you need is adobe acrobat reader to use it. It has a parts breakdown as well as the wiring diagram. However I can tell you that there are 3 inside this dryer one at the top back left portion of the dryer. the thermal limiter. One on the heater housing. And one on the blower housing.

Need a diagram of how to take the drum off of a Crosley electric dryer

Unplug or de-energize unit.

Getting the top off

Use a putty knife between the top and front about 3 inches in from either side as you pull up on the top. Taking the front loose to remove from dryer. There are 2 screws inside at each edge near the top to get the front loose after getting the top up. Pull the top of the front forward and lift it off the clips it sits on. Swing it out of the way for drum removal being careful not to pull on the wiring.

To remove the drum from here, take the belt loose from the idler pulley and lift the drum off the 2 rollers on the rear bulkhead. It will just lift out of the dryer. Good Luck

My dryer seems to work but doesnt heat up just cold air so it takes forever to dry

This may be a tricky one.
The dryer uses 240vac to heat with, but only 120vac to turn the drum. If one of the breakers has gone bad, this will prevent it from heating. Use a meter to check the outlet. You should measure 240vac across the receptacles at the 3 and 9 oclock positions if the u shaped hole is at the top or bottom. Also measure from each position to the ushaped hole as well. You should see 120vac here. now go to the top hole. You should also see 120vac if you saw it at the bottom hole. If you don't see these voltages, you may have some wiring or breaker problems. Leave the dryer unplugged.

The dryer also has temperature over limit switches. If one of these switches opens up, it will also kill the heat. These are relatively simple to troubleshoot. With the dryer turned off, remove the back panel off the dryer. Look for very small round cans that are mounted onto the air ducts, they wach will have 2 wires, and are probably brown or white in color. Might be black. Also take this opportunity to remove any lint that has become trapped in this area. Since vibration is part of a dryer's way of life, look for loose wires that may have vibrated loose. Consult the wiring diagram sticker to find where the wire goes.

You may have lost a heating element altogether. That can mess things up as well, though normally you would still have some heat, though not much. The heating element is going to be more difficult. You will likely have to remove a few access panels in order to get to the connections to check continuity of the heating elements. Dont worry about actual values at this moment, just look for continuity.

If all is well so far, then take a close look at the timer switch. It may be bad, or wire may have fallen off of it. Once again, pull the lint out of this area as well.

Just attach the green wire to any screw closeby. Nothing could be simpler. Look closely and you will find a small male terminal to connect the green wire in some models.

I have a kenmore model 417.93042201 gas dryer that is about 5 years old. I had to replace the ignitor and in the process I removed the front of the cabinet. When I put it back together the dryer worked...

Look on the loose wire for a letter or number, it will be one or two inches from the female spade connector end. Then look on the timer and look for an empty terminal and see if the number or letter matches the one on the wire. If so, bingo! Attach the wire to the timer and see what happens. Also you could look on the wiring diagram for white wire and see where it positivley goes. Good luck. Remember to do all work with the unit unplugged!!
