SOURCE: Water dripping from top of fridge (coil housing?) under freezer.

It could well just need defrosting. It does sound as though the coil in the freezer section is frozen. If you try defrosting it and the problem disappears then you have at least found a temporary solution. If it does rectify it I would closely monitor the cabinet for a couple of weeks to check for a reoccurrence. If it does reoccur then I would suggest contacting a fridge guy so that he can check the defrost circuit. The reason we normally suggest to defrost is incase a door was left ajar and the coil froze up because of this. I hope this is of some help and you seem to be on the right track.

SOURCE: kenmore fridge ice maker not working

only two things this could be, either your water valve is bad or your icemaker is bad. you can get a kit which comes with both for a little over a hundred bucks, and you can change them yourself.

SOURCE: Bad water & ice cube taste

Hello redwood City
Welcome

You said,
Your Kitchenaid Superba KSRG25FKBL15 has bad tasting water and ice cubes. You replaced the copper tubing which delivers the water to the fridge and that didn't help. You replaced the copper tubing again with plastic tubing...no better. Any suggestions? Your tap water doesn't taste this bad.You bought a Kenmore french door fridge with water dispenser in the door in July 2008. The fridge has a filter. A few weeks after the fridge came the water and ice started tasting really bad, unlike any bad water taste I have ever tasted. And your tap water is fine. The bad taste appears to be random. Sometimes you get a cup full of nasty water and sometimes it tastes fine.

First you must know you have a 1 year warranty and can have them come out to fix anything, no charge. If it persists. You will have to get tough and you , MUST INSIST THEY REPLACE YOUR FRIDGE

When installing the water line these were a part of the directions!
Did you do this before connecting the water line to your fridge?
"Place the free end of the tubing in a container or sink, and
turn ON the main water supply. Flush the tubing until water is
clear. Turn OFF the shutoff valve on the water pipe. Coil the
copper tubing."

Whirlpool remedy
Off-taste, odor or gray color in the ice
1.Are the plumbing connections new, causing discolored or
off-flavored ice? Discard the first few batches of ice.
2.Have the ice cubes been stored too long? Throw old ice
away and make a new supply.
3.Does the freezer and ice storage bin need to be cleaned?
See “Cleaning” or “Ice Maker and Storage Bin.”
4.Has food in the freezer or refrigerator been wrapped
properly? Use airtight, moisture-proof packaging to help
prevent odor transfer to stored food.
5.Does the water contain minerals (such as sulfur)? A filter
may need to be installed to remove the minerals.
6. Is there a water filter installed on the refrigerator? Gray or
dark discoloration in ice indicates that the water filtration
system needs additional flushing. Run additional water
through the water dispenser to flush the water filtration
system more thoroughly (at least 2 to 3 gal. [8 to 12 L] or 6 to
7 minutes initially). Discard discolored ice.

Let me know what works,
Thank You ,
HUUUM!!

SOURCE: Water filter stuck on my Kenmore Fridge

I had the same problem. I coudn't get the knob to turn. I ended up taking the front grill off so I could get a better grip on the knob. Once I did that I still have to put a lot of pressure on the knob to turn it but that did the trick. When I got it turned a quarter turn then it was easy to pull the filter out. Hope this helps!

Resivour at the botttom of the dishwasher is clogged and full of water/white soap.

Mine looked the same but if it smells bad it is not soap. It needs to be cleaned.

1. pull the filters out: there is a basket to catch large food particles, pinch tabs together to remove. then there is a round wire filter, turn clock-wise or counter clock wise- till it lifts out. (there will be a plastic piece that runs around half of this filter. it will easily pop on and off the tabs.) this will allow you to remove the rectangular wire filter that sits flush with the bottom of your dishwasher.

2. soak and then scrub. I poured a half cup of bleach into the bottom of my dishwasher and allowed it to sit for a good 10+ minutes. mine was filled with some pretty cloudy and nasty smelling water. at the same time, I soaked all the filters in bleach water. you could use CLR, or any good house hold cleaner. then scrub the filters with and old kitchen sponge.

3. re-assemble. if you look at each piece there are arrows that should line up when you connect them. the plastic semi-circular piece even has an arrow that points up.

4. run the dishwasher through for a whole cycle.

Good Luck!

I have a Samsung rsh1dbbp fridge/freezer, the change filter light has come up, but the instructions are not clear I do not know where to install the new filter, could someone help me?

The filter is located behind the fridge. This is a self contained filter cartridge that is replaced as a unit. Online they sell for about £4. Pull the fridge out completely and you will probably see the filter cartridge clipped to the wall. The filter is about 10 inches long and about 2 inch diameter. Note the flow direction marked on the new cartridge, and remember to turn off the water supply before disconnecting to inlet and outlet pipes from the filter . Hope this helps

  1. 1. Look for the water filter cartridge. On some refrigerators it is located in the back, upper right corner of the refrigerator compartment. Some refrigerators have it in a tubular-like slot under the door and accessible from outside.
    2. Remove the old cartridge. On the cartridges that are located inside the refrigerator, the cartridge should be slowly turned to the left. Don't pull down on the cartridge. A small amount of water may drip. On the type that are under the door, follow the arrow labeling for the direction to unscrew it. Slide it outside.
    3. To replace a filter, fill the replacement cartridge with water from the tap. This will speed up water flow after installation. Run water from the dispenser for three minutes after replacing a filter to clear the line. Refrigerators with a filter warning light require you to reset the light. Press and hold the Reset Water Filter button to do that.

If it is an inline filter make sure the directional arrow is pointing towards the ice maker. If it is a bowl type filter make sure the gasket is in place and is not twisted or not seated in groove properly. You may need to "cycle" the ice maker manually. Take the front cover off and carefully rotate the large gear in the direction of the arrow if there is one. If not, try rotating in one direction first, if it won't move go the other way until it starts turning on its own. This should cause the cube mold to fill with water and continue automatically on its own.

Cannot remove water filter, will not unscrew.

You need a belt wrench.

06e.gif&h=74&w=155&usg=__rstarg_yfsch9ztqiidisf136tm=

This and other versions can be found at Auto parts stores and plumbing supply stores.

It wraps around the filter housing and applies pressure evenly over the whole surface to prevent breakage.

You may need to use large channel locks on the main housing as you turn the belt wrench to prevent breaking pipes if it is stuck really tight and you have plastic pipes.

The problem can still be in your lines, or in the dispenser itself. If you run hot water with a little bit of vinegar in the lines and let it sit for about 30 minutes and then flush the whole system this should take care of your problem

Kenmore Fridge - Bad Testing Water

Your refrigerator definitely has a water filter. If you have gone 5 years without replacing the filter, you and your family have probably been drinking contaminated water, for some time. Water filters should be replaced every three to six months. On some refrigerators, and in cases of higher water consumption, the filter must be changed every 60 days. Sears sells replacement filter cartridges for Kenmore refrigerators.

The water filter on your refrigerator is located at the front base of the unit, in the grille, below the freezer door. There, you will see a round cap. Turn the cap counter-clockwise, until the handle is vertical. Then, pull it out of the grille. The filter cartridge is attached to the cap. After removing the cap and filter, slide the cap off from the existing filter cartridge. Slide the cap on to a new cartridge, and re-insert with the cap handle in a vertical position. Push it in, firmly. Then, turn the cap clockwise, until the cap handle is horizontal.
