Question about Poulan Garden

1 Answer

I just purchased a PP208E24 Poulan Pro snow thrower. While operating it for the first time there was a blue arcing between the body of the unit and the chute? What could be wrong? Also is there a service manual anywhere online for this model?

SOURCE: Electric starter won't engage with the engine.

I have just taken apart my Troy-Bilt Model 5521 so now I can see how all the bits fit together.

The electric starter is a separate device that engages with the cogs on the outside of the engine flywheel.

The cord pull engages the flywheel at the centre.

The fact that the cord pull starts the engine is a good thing.

If you dismantle the blower and take of the top cover (very annoying with many bolts all over the unit, take a look at the spare parts guide to see the exploded view) the starter it comes away with the power cord.

You can plug this in to the main supply and press the start button and you should see the small cogged teeth turning about 200 rpm. Keep your fingers clear.

I am guessing that this is not working at all. Either that or the cog wheel has shaved the teeth off or it is jammed.

This is a good do it yourself project for someone who doesn't mind getting their hands dirty.

It should take about 3 hours to take the unit apar and another 2 to put it back together.

Troy Bilt doesn't sell the starter motor or the engines (mine had an engine seize with a broken main bearing and a broken piston).

I suspect that the resellers don't have these parts either. But someone does.

Good luck

Need to decrease Wheel Speed. Blower works well except for this. Keeps plugging up, because it moves to fast.

part of the drive plate. Lift the machine up on it's auger and take the bottom cover off. with the speed lever at its slowest see if the little friction wheel moving linkage can be adjusted so the friction wheel gets as close to the middle of the drive plate as possible. Sometimes it's just an adjustment on the shifter arm.
loosen and adjust item 20 and 25

I am unable to start poulan pro snow thrower. Recoil handle will not pull and electric start wont turn over. Brand new machine, never used. Is there a safty mechenism?

have you ever had it running?
you can check the starter, pulll it off and check gear at the end
if teeth are missing the you have to get them off the magnets on the flywheel. they jam it there giving the indications of a set up engine. I ve seen it 2 times

I just purchased a Poulan Pro PP208E24 model snowthrower from Costco in Ottawa, ON. I have assembled the unit per the manual. The problem I have is that the unit does not seem to have a neutral position....

According to the manual; remove the klik pin (holds wheel on axle) and place it in the outer axle slot to disengage drive system. Replace klik pin to inner axle slot for normal operation.
Works for me.
