The DV6000 is a moniker for an entire series of laprop computers, each with a unique model number that has some variation the DV6XXX. Some will have Intel Core Duo, some Intel Celeron, some AMD Turion 64, and some AMD Mobile Sempron processors. The dv6000 series was commonly affected by the video card heating up and reseating itself. This was usually a soldering issue. You have a few options, You can either replace the motherboard, or have the motherboard reflowed. Unfortunately the video card itself is not detachable or individually replaceable.

I personally would recommend the second option as purchasing another dv6000 board will likely end you up in the same situation a year or 2 later.

This repair tech only does amd processor models, Not intel.

Hope this helps.

Buggy Motherboard... could be the BIOS could use an upgrade, Bad Battery on MB, or MB could just be bad. Data on you drive is good and recoverable. New PC ? Buy.com a Referb Box is a good choice if you are on a budget. A Turion Processor is not worth the expense to fix in my opinion. If you can do it youself, for fun, replace Motherboard, HD and CPU and re-use the rest. Buying a new one, even a real cheep one is a less frustrating solution.

Notebook appears to start booting for about 3 seconds

See if you can get into safe mode by pressing F8 once you turn the laptop on. It will take you to a boot menu if it works properly, choose safe mode.
If you can get into safe mode then choose system restore and choose the last date the laptop was working properly. The let it restore your computer back to that date, it will need to reboot and it will go back into windows normally as long as restore went thru.

If you can't get into safe mode then you'll need to wipe out your drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults.

If you can't do that then you might have a bad hard drive and that would need to be replaced.
