The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can simply use "cp" or any photo cataloging program.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do I access windows applications on the same machine

Linux and Windows I'm sure you know are two totally separate platforms of Operating System's. Meaning their applications and programs are not cross compatible with one another.

However. Ubuntu has over 33000 free programs that are just like Windows programs. They can read and access pdf's. avi's, wmv's and all the other things that you might need.

Since the question isn't completely clarified here. I'm gonna say you can just download Ubuntu's versions of programs.

Or... Install what they call a Virtual Machine and "emulate" a Windows system, download the windows programs, and run it like a standard MS System.

I just bought a HP presario laptop with free dos operating system.it uses windows but doesnt have microsoft operating system.I cant download skype. What can I do?

If an application is not available for your operating system, you have two options. One is to look for a compatible application from another source (if one is available). The other option is to switch operating systems. If you want to avoid buying a copy of Windows, install a distribution of Linux. Skype is available for Linux, and programs like WINE can let you run many Windows applications. You also have software like OpenOffice available. Ubuntu is a very popular Linux distribution. Installation is simple and it looks and acts a lot like Windows so it's easy to adjust to using it.

What are the issues about Linux Operating System

There are MANY Linux operating systems. The main ones known are Ubuntu, Fedora, PC Linux OS, OpenSUSE, Cent OS, Linux Mint and Debian.

Debian is the mother or what Ubuntu and Linux Mint is built from. Debian is considered to be stable. Ubuntu is also supposed to be stable as is Linux Mint. The advantage of these two are ease of use. Debian, Linux Mint and Ubuntu are using .deb packages for applications to be installed.

OpenSUSE uses .rpm packages. It is also considered as stable, but not as widely used as Debian (and the other two) CentOS and Fedora.

CentOS is mainly used for Server purposes. However, in the installation, there are many types of installation options, including Desktop. CentOS is based on the Enterprise version of Red Hat. This is what mainly more and more websites are running off of as it is extremely STABLE and FAST!! So Cent OS is the free EXACT version of Red Hat. Fedora, is the test bed for Red Hat , carrying the LATEST technology being made available to anyone for free.

ALL of these operating systems, except Red Hat, are for FREE. All applications are for FREE. Just to let you know, Google also is using a Linux version for their phones now as well called Android, which you can also acquire for FREE.

The only disadvantage that used to exists until recent is that you could not play all the latest and greatest games on Linux. Now with Steam, you can play anything.

There is a myth that you could not install Windows applications on Linux. You can use Wine on Linux to install Microsoft Windows Applications. If you are having a problem, you are probably missing some files for wine to make it work properly.

Linux is also being used in cars. Check out Toyota and Mercedes Benz that is using Ubuntu. Linux is big and amazing.

Hope that answers your questions.

How can we have a free OS for my laptop.

Hi,
There are a large number of OSes which are available for free on the internet . Most of them are linux based , with each having a slightly different interface and a different method to install programs (also referred to as package management) . They are popularly referred to as linux distros. Depending on how old your laptop is, and you requirements, you can choose an appropriate distro . For laptops which have been bought within 3-4 years , UBUNTU (http://www.ubuntu.com/) is a good choice . For new linux users LinuxMint (http://www.linuxmint.com/) is a good option with lots of settings and applications preconfigured . In case it is a old machine and will be mainly used for internet surfing and web based applications then a netbook OS like Joli OS http://www.jolicloud.com/download is a good option. These OS offer fast boot times and good web compatibility .
To install any these , you can go to the website and download the OS and burn it to a CD/DVD . Some of these OS can be directly installed without the need to burn a CD . You can also try out these OS without installing . This is called Live-Boot .
I hope this answers your question .

How to install linux operating system

Hello
A free software operating system based on Linux was created and it was named Ubuntu. It offers all services needed by ISPs, mail servers, DNS servers, FTP servers, MySQL servers, POP3/POP3s/IMAP/IMAPs, Quota, and Firewalls. Red hat, Apache and Ubuntu are Linux software distributors. Ubuntu is widely used because it is free and you don't have to pay any licensing fee. Updates are also available for free and accessible online.
To install Ubuntu Linux software you can use the program "Wubi."
The first thing to do is to download Wubi to your desktop and then run the executable program. Then choose the drive in your computer where you want your installation to go. Wubi will place a file on your local drive. It will use this drive as a virtual hard drive. Most often the C drive is used for this purpose. Choose a bigger installation size to allow installation of other programs and storage of data. Choose your language. Type in your username and then your password for security reasons and for your installation to proceed. You will use this for logging on to your computer, installing programs and making changes to the system. Once you click "Install" Wubi will start to download the installation files. When the installation files have completely been downloaded, you have to reboot. Restart your computer. You'll see on your screen a prompt that asks you to select the operating system that you like-whether you like to boot Ubuntu or Windows. Choose Ubuntu. This will complete the installation of your Ubuntu Linux OS. Another way of installing the Ubuntu Linux software is by using:
An Ubuntu CD installer An Internet connection Everything you need to install Linux comes in one CD that provides a complete working environment. You can get the additional software you will need online for your installation. The available graphical installer makes installation easy and quick. Your computer will have Internet, drawing and graphics applications, and games after Linux has been installed.
Now your computer is ready to work to the max. You'll have it functioning the way you want it and enjoy its features as well. Working on a computer is as much fun as it is functional. You can now browse for information you need, play a variety of games and even listen to your favorite music and watch some videos.
Hope this helps, if so do rate the solution

Why i cant install messenger to my pc.. Linux ubuntu is my windows

Hello,
First of all, the programs made for windows can't be run on Ubuntu because Linux based operating system don't execute *.exe files.
Messenger programs like Pidgin, skype are already added in the repository of Ubuntu. You can select from the software management menu and install. Besides, you can also download the sources (tar balls) of various other messengers written fir Linux distributions, compile them and install. You need just to search on Google for all available messengers for Ubuntu.
It is advisable that you download a Debian package of the software because it is just like Windows .exe file to install it. Just, a click.
Let me know if you need any other help regarding installation of softwares on Linux.
We are always available for your help.

Regards.

Installing linux o.s

You have to download ubuntu here:

http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download

Then burn the file ( it's an iso) with a burning program like Nero or whatever you have available.

That's the easiest way.

Here are other ways you can do it:

Let me know if any of this doesn't make sense.

Best of luck!
