SOURCE: The auger of my snowblower

I can't give you an absolute answer without checking it out in person, but I'll do what I can to help. What you are describing sounds like the bearings on the auger are going bad. Either they are making the noise. or they have play in them and the auger is then scraping on the body of the snowblower. As to locating parts, Toro maintains a pretty good website that allows you to look up your own parts and/or find a local parts distributor. I hope this helps.

Replace snowblower belt

Locate the two top auger housing fastening bolts and remove. The auger housing will tilt forward and then lift the housing off of the bottom 2 bolts/bushings. You will need to support the traction frame as it will try to fall onto the handles.

Snowblower will not move forward or in reverse.

Tilt it up on the Auger and take the bottom cover off.
The Friction wheel might be rusted to the Shaft.

Snowblower....auger takes time to get going...like five minutes...it will struggle to start spinning then eventually warms up and is fine....whats the issue?

It is most likely your auger drive belts. There are two of them, and they need to be replaced periodically. Your manual should describe in detail as to how to replace the belts. Always start by removing the spark plug wire.
Improper gearcase lubricant could also cause problems. Your manual should tell you specifically what to use in the gearcase, and how to fill it. Also look for grease fittings on the auger and use a low-temp grease to service those fittings.
Lastly; behind the auger is the impeller shaft. Reach in and see if it wiggles. If it does, then have your impeller bearing replaced.

Oil for a snapper snowblower 16223

I found the manual for you snowblower, and it's a two stage snowblower, so I am assuming you need two stage oil. Ultimately you need to get that information from the engine manual, and you haven't provided the engine information in you posting. This is the link for the blower manual:

I have a snapper m1529e snow blower and need shear bolts for the auger, I was told by a local mechanic that it used a 1/4 inch machine bolt. I am worried that this might not protect the machine. Thanks...

Yes, 1/4" bolts should work fine. Just make sure they are grade 1 or 2, if you use say a grade 5 or 8 bolt, the bolt will not shear thus defeating the purpose of a shear pin. For what it's worth I have the same snowblower as you. When I found no one locally carried them, I resorted to to using regular bolts. I have had them shear just like they should when you hit something by accident. No damage to the machine after 3 years...and yes, someone in the family tried a grade 8 bolt on their ls and it basically destroyed the auger...

Swisher 27" snowblower front impellers turn free

Hi Craig,

Most snowblowers incorporate "shear pins" between the motor and auger. A shear pin looks similar to a nut and bolt or pin that couples the drive to the auger - but it designed to break or shear off to prevent damage to the auger or motor in the event of a jam or overload. They look like these:

Only the shear pin recommended for your particular brand and model snowblower should be used. Under no circumstances should a regular bolt or other steel pin be used instead of a shear pin. Check your manual or consult with Swisher to determine the correct shear pin for your snow blower.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Not sure how to reroute auger cable on craftsman snowblower

I assume the cable to the auger was removed and needs to be re-installed.
There should be a clamp that the cable ran thru, then attaches to the auger
control. Find this clamp on your snowblower, and route it thru this clamp
then attach it to your auger control.
