The clipper must be running when you try to fit a blade, if its all pf your blades your having trouble with then the problem is with your clippers, its possible the black latch which you need to depress to release a blade is bocken, loock at the end and make sure there is a hook which catches the blade, look at the picture.

it could be metal fatigue from the blade. Try a different blade and see if it does the same. If it is still rattling it could be your blade drive needs to be replaced. Sometimes the screws that hold the blade drive in place come lose or striped so you may need to check them.

CHANGING BLADES

There is a small gun-metal colored bar (dark gray or black) at the very rear, just below the back of the blade. It pushes inward, in the direction of the blade. Push it firmly in and pull up on the teeth of the blade. It should pop upward. You can then remove the blade from the tongue that it sits upon. When you want to put it back, slide the blade back on the tongue, then, WITH THE MOTOR TURNED ON, push the blade down to its seated position. It will click into place.
Hope this helps you.

How to change blades. I was abe to remove the bland, but how do you get it back on?

If you are dealing with a 76076-010 clipper, this is how you remove and replace the detactable blade. There is a small gun-metal colored bar at the very rear, just below the back of the blade. If the tongue has gotten pushed back against the body of the clipper, simply insert a screwdriver blade behind it and pop it back out so that you can slip the blade back on it.
Hope this helps you.

This is from the Oster book:
Changing Blades
To Remove: IMPORTANT- stop motor; push latch with thumb while lifting blade away from clipper and slide off tongue.
To Replace: turn motor on; insert blade on tongue fully and then snap blade into place.

Note: if the hinge is flush against clipper, lift it up with a screwdriver.

From me - Never take your blades apart to clean them. You can slide them one side to the other to get the hair out. (One little hair, can stop them from cutting.) You need to buy a can of clipper blade cool from oster or andis both are good, and it really helps to lubricate the blade and keep them cool while clipping. If you live near a dog groomer, petsmart or something of the like. Ask them to show you how to remove the blade and I know they will be happy to show you. I tried to submit an image from the book, but I don't know if it will get here or not.

Replacing blades on Oster A5

A5 blades are not made to be unscrewed. Once they are sharpened they are aligned and when you unscrew them they will need to be realigned again. You can call factory service 800-830-3678 if you have any questions. Please just in the future always use the snap on/off method.
