SOURCE: Broken light switch on a Nutone

The Black 120vac Line In wire goes into "L". The Black wire goes into "2". The Red Wire goes into "3". When you install the switch, the Red and Black wires will be on top of the switch.

Power window goes up but not down

That tells me the switch is faulty. The switch uses the same power and ground wires in, and reverses the connection out depending on which way the switch is pushed.

What you have doesn't sound quite right, nor does the advice you are getting, though I don't think it would cause a short either.
I think the right way depends on what you want the amp gage to measure. If you want it to read the total output of the generator, you have to connect everything in the car to the other side (opposite from the generator wire). On the other hand, if you just want it to measure what current is going to the battery, then you put the accessory wires on the same side as the wire from the generator. I have made 2 diagram below. A volt meter is easy, and you can have both, if you like. A voltmeter just goes straight to the battery terminals if you want to know for sure that you are charging. You can use plain ground and the alternator wire, but then if there is a fusible link from there to the battery you are not always sure the voltage is getting to the battery. I want to jump the drivers side window to make it roll up for my friend who can't afford the new switch right now but I cant find a drawing of the quick connect plugs that have the wires labled. With out...

It is real simple, You don't need anything fancy, Take the switch out of the arm rest, it should pop right out, You have in your hand the hot wire for the window, which should be hot, and the switch, and the lead to the window motor. If you take the switch apart, you can usually get them working with a little scrubbing, most of them get wet from the window being open and the corrode. I got all mine working just by cleaning them. But, if you just take the wires off the switch at the connection, you should be able to see what is the driver's window, you can run a hot wire to it and it should go up, or down, If it goes the wrong way, reverse the wire. The hot wire is coming into the switch, should be 2 wires in and about 10 out. Hope this helps.

Have hand control wireing problem ,,,, need to know what color wire does what ,,,, got the left hand control to wire up on a older bike,,,,, hooking up trun sigals and head light control,,,,what color...

This information applies to the vast majority of Honda motorcycles. Colors for the right handlebar switch are: Grey sends power to the turn signal switch. Light Blue goes from the turn signal switch, to the right turn signals. Orange goes to the left turn signals. Light Green goes to the horn button.
The left handlebar switch: Yellow With Red stripe goes to the starter button. Black wires take power to the headlight switch and the kill switch. White goes to the headlight low beam, Blue to the high beam. Brown / White goes to the tail light, running and instrument lighting. Black / White comes from the kill switch and delivers power to the ignition coils.
I hope this helps.

Display screen upside down

It's broken wires to a switch inside the rotating mechanism. If you take the screws off of the screen and the rotating mechanism and remove the grey plastic covers you'll see a black switch inside a white plastic mounting that is anchored around the bundle of black wires going to the screen.

You'll be able to see the metal tab that rotates down to activate the switch when you swivel the screen (do this carefully with the covers off so you don't wreck the screen by asserting too much stress on it).

If you know someone that can solder tiny stuff, take it to them. It doesn't matter which wire goes to which terminal on the switch. You should see two broken wires in the black bundle - those are the ones that need to get reconnected to the switch. I used transformer wire to fix mine, as the insulation on transformer wire is painted on (and will need to be removed from the ends with a small file) instead of having plastic/rubber insulation that can melt when soldering.

Once the wires are reconnected, insulate them using liquid electrical tape, then put the wires gently back into the bundle, and make sure that the stress points don't land right on your solder connections. After that you should be good to go.

It's not a job for someone who hasn't soldered before... better left to someone with steady hands and the necessary equipment.

Hope that helps!
