The region free hack I found online for Philips model DVP3580 is actually the region hack for model DVP3980 and didn't work for the model I have. Does anyone know the code for the DVP3580 model?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hey, i had the same problem. Got the solution from a post by Myrakaru, February 09 2009. here are the steps: 1. With the remote control, turn on the player. Keep the tray closed.  2. Press SETUP and use the buttons LEFT or RIGHT (arrows) to go to the Preferences Page.  3. Type 138931 and a screen will appear on TV.  4. Use the buttons UP/DOWN (arrows) to change the region code to 0 (zero), then press OK.  5. Turn off the player and turn on again.

I CANNOT PLAY REGION A DVDS ON MY 3D BLU/RAY PLAYER BDP- 7500 PHILIPS DVD BLU/RAY PLAYER COULD I PLEASE HAVE A SOFTWARE UPDATE OR SOME KIND OF CODE TO UNBLOCK THE PROBLEM OR DO I REQUIRE A MULTI REGION...

No disc in tray
Press Home
Scroll to settings
input code: 13893108520

The settings will pop up and you will see that the DVD region is now set to 0 (meaning region free).

I have checked the hack on a BDP8000 (region 2)and it sets the region to 0 (the 7th. digit from the left) alright, but it does not make the player region free as a message from the disc (MGM) comes and tell that the disc is not supposed to be played in this region. The region on the player can be changed to the region by changing the "x" in 138931x8520 to the actual region you want to play.

Try this out. The hack codec for blue ray are not yet published so it is not possible to make Blue Rays totally region free as of now.

How to make my philips DVP3747 region free

Here is a hack that I've found to work on many Philips machines.

Turn on Player
Using Remote Control open the Disk Tray (and leave open)
Using Remote Control Press SetUp
Using Remote Control Scroll To Preference using Left / Right Arrow keys (Just Highlight it do NOT select it)
Using Remote Control Press 1 3 8 9 3 1

Region Menu Screen Should Appear

Using Remote Control Select Desired Region Using Up / Down Arrow Keys (0 [Zero] For Region Free)

Hope this helps.

I bought a Philips DVP3980 on the promise that I'd be able to go online and get instructions to unlock the regional zoning to make it multizone. I haven't been able to find these instructions -- can you...

DVP3980
1. Turn the DVD player on.
2. Open the loading tray.
3. Press the "Setup" button on the remote control.
4. Navigate to the "Preferences" page using the right arrow key.
5. Type 138931.
6. The current region code will be displayed - use the Up/Down arrow buttons to select the region required or "0" for all regions.
7. Press the "Setup" button on the remote control.
8. Press "OK" on the remote control.

Simple!

I´ve just applied to my HTS3565D/37 and it worked great. Do not expect it to show anything in the display, though. You open the tray, click the sequence in the remote and... Done!

Region number

I don't know if this will work-but it can't hurt, so you might as well give it a try.
What you are looking for is called a region free hack. You don't say the maker of your machine or it's model number. There are actually two ways but the first one is the most easyestt.
Go to www.videohelp.com on the left side list you will find a title for 'DVD Hacks" that is where you want to go. You need to put in your make and model number. IF they have a hack for your machine, it will be there. Now if you are trying to play a PAL video, on a NTSC machine. you will need to search for a hack for that also. If your machine is brand new, there might not be a hack posted yet. So try back later-say a month later.
The other way involves a computer- I can tell you how to do it, but it is more involved. Let me know if you found what you are looking for.

Sorry - every Philips model has a region it was marketed for, and dvd's from other regions will not work without an illegal hack (if one exists).
