61/82 is already reduced to lowest terms since 61 and 82 have no factors in common (other than 1). In fact 61 is a prime number so it has no factors other than 1 and 61.

Hello,

This fraction is already reduced to its simplest form because 61 is a prime number: a number that can only be divided by itself and by 1.

Hope it clarifies things.

What is the improper fraction of 2/10

I think you want to reduce the fraction to the lowest terms.

Improper fraction 1 3/4 produces an improper fraction of 7/4 (1 times denominator plus numerator)

To reduce a fraction, we need to divide the numerator (number on top) and the denominator (number on the bottom) by the greatest common factor (GCF).

To get the GCF, find the factors of the numerators and denominators and find the greatest number that is in both lists.

The factors of 2 are 1, 2.

The factors of 10 are 1, 2, 5, 10.

The greatest (largest) number is both lists is 2, so we divide the numerator and denominator by 2 and get 1/5.

Good luck,

How do I get the TI-85 to convert an improper fraction to a mixed number?

Hi,

To do this on any calculator, enter the numerator and denominator of your mixed fraction, with a divide in between. I get 1.4. Next, take the decimal into a fraction and reduce it to lowest terms. In this case, 0.4 converts to 4/10 which reduces to 2/5. Putting the two pieces together, we get 1 and 2/5.

Good luck.

Can you help me on this question?

This answer is correct. 4/12 divided by 2/2= 1/3
The reciprocal of 2/2 is 2/2
Then you multiply straight across and reduce to get 1/3

What is the lowest 580/1140 will reduce down to.

First divide top and bottom by 10.
This converts the fraction to 58/114.
Next divide top and bottom by 2.
This converts the fraction to 29/57.
Since 29 is a prime number this is as far as this fraction can be reduced.

So the answer is 29/57.

Convert

Transforming 0.175 to fraction:
= 175/1,000
Reduce to lowest term (divide by 5 both the numerator and the denominator):
= 35/200
Reduce further by dividing both by 5:
= 7/40
This is the lowest terms now that it can't be reduced further.

The "Other" way round, Bottom number into ONE and multiply it by the Top. EG: 3/4 == 1 divided by 4 = 0.25, now we multiply, .25 by the Top number or in this case 3, that equals 0.75. 1/4 =0.25 x 3 = .75. 3/4 is the same as 0.75.
