Maytag Appliances are ****!! Don't buy Maytag. Spent $2500.00 in 2005 on Maytag Neptune washer and dryer. They have been nothing but trouble. Washer has water running in tub constantly. Recall on ground and recall on footing. Dryer making loud noise when drying clothes. The Maytag man is dead and gone.

Had service technician come out to inspect. Problem determined to be the bearing and seal/belt. Estimated cost $350.00. It cost $450 when new....Went out and purchased a Speed Queen. Hope to have better luck.

If you feel OK to troubleshoot the Service Manual will give you some possible leak points to check. If you want to troubleshoot you beyond basic inspection you will need to remove the front panel and observe where the leak source might be. Worse case a tub seal issue. Easier fix would be a leak in the drain line; tub to drain pump/drain pump to output drain hose, one poster recently reported a cracked drain pump housing as their leak source. Here is a link for the manual.
The one leak source I would be concerned with is a leak described around the clutch pulley on page 28. If that is your leak source it’s a big project and you may need think about a service repair (BIG$ for labor but see if you can get a no cost quote) or a replacement machine if it’s not cost effective to repair. If you go the replacement direction call the Maytag CSV phone number at the end of the manual and complain, I got them to offer up a 25% rebate by talking to a supervisor on their Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag product line (don’t shoot the messenger). I’m a DIY’er and if I can’t fix this thing for under $300 with ebay parts I would move on. But let’s go one step at a time and try to ID the leak source.
To help you remove the front panel see page 33 Pic for the putty knife insertion point to raise the top of the machine. Insert a flat blade putty knife approximately 2.5” from the left and right sides of the washer top, depress the spring tabs securing machine top to the washer base.
See page 41 for front panel removal don’t poke around in there with the power on just view for a water leak with a flash light while the machine fills in a Quick Wash cycle and as the machine proceeds through the wash cycle. Safety first, please follows the safety guide lines in the SM. Post again if you have questions and I’m sure I or other forum members will chime in for support. Good Luck.

On the bottom of the front panel there should a philip head screw right above each fron adjusting leg.
Remove these 2 screws. Open the cover and lift up on the front between the drum & cover there are 2 metal clips holding the top down. Swing the top up and remove the front panel. The motor is right in front on the lower left. Let me know if this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
