Question about HP Officejet J5780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have Windows XP. I have been printing on both sides with HP J5780 for a long time. I didn't change anythin that I know of. Now the number 1 shows up in the o page line even though the o all line is selected with the dot? The only way I can do copying on both sides is to delete the 1 in the page column - click in the dot in the all column and hit apply. On the next printing it goes back to the same problem.

You should try uninstalling your printer and reinstalling it. This can be down through the software you installed with your printer via control panel - add and remove programs. Also in control panel printers and faxes and remove your printer. Once done this go to hp's website and download the latest driver (see link) and install it. That way you have the up to date software.

The link was taken from the hp website for your exact model if this does no work see below.

The problem could be that you're using Microsoft Windows XP. Microsoft discontinued this program a long time ago and doesn't even offer support for it anymore. The new programs are often too powerful for XP. Before you upgrade your OS, and I suggest you do when you can, go up on the HP website and search how to reset your printer to factory defaults. If you can't find it, just re-download the software for your printer. That should reset your printer to factory defaults.

I have a J5780 which I set up in my las property and now I have moved to my new house I cannot receive or send faxes. What do I do? Is the J5780 registered to my old phone line number and if so how do I...

I have a newer model, and I don't think it locks to a specific fax number, but try this: (By reseting you will lose any stored numbers.)

Here's a link to the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00844812.pdf

To restore the factory defaults
1.
Press Setup.
2. Press 6, then press 4.
This selects Tools and then selects Restore Factory Defaults.
The factory default settings are restored.

To set the date and time
1.
Press Setup.
2. Press 6, and then press 3.
This selects Tools and then selects Date and Time.
3. Enter the month, day, and year by pressing the appropriate numbers on the keypad.
Depending on your country/region setting, you might enter the date in a different
order.
4. Enter the hours and minutes.
5. If your time is displayed in the 12-hour format, press 1 for AM, or 2 for PM.
The new date and time settings appear on the display.

Try stopping the print spooler service and canelling all the documents.

The Windows Print Spooler is a Windows XP "Service". You can start/stop it via the following steps:
  1. Click on the Start button
  2. click on Run
  3. enter "services.msc" without the quotes and press Enter
  4. Scroll down to Print Spooler
  5. Single-Click on Print Spooler
  6. The details will open in the middle of the window.
    • It probably shows Start -- if so, Start it.
    • If it shows Stop and Restart, I suggest Stop it, then Start it.

Have Microsoft Windows XP.....purchased HP Officejet J5780 all in

Before you print, look at the print preview. If it shows your document, then the problem is with the printer. If the page is shown blank, the problem is different. Check your Print dialogue screen (File menu, then Print to see the dialogue screen) . have a look what you have selected under the item Page Range. I believe you have clicked SELECTION without actually selecting anything on the document. If that is the case, undo it by clicking on another option
Best of luck

Printing both side of the paper using HP Officejet J5780 All in One

Make sure that you have the duplexing option turned on in your printer configuration. The "OK" button is right below the window that shows the date and time. Have a look here:
