Question about Audio Players & Recorders

2 Answers

My VAmp 2 is only a few days out of the box and has been working fine until today. It powers up fine but I'm unable to input any sound (I've tried different guitars and leads which all work with other equipment) and using the in-built guitar tuner as a guide, I can only assume that no input signal is getting through. The unit hasn't been dropped/mis-treated

Hi, thanks that sounds promising. However I can't find a "hold" button - I've had a good look through the manual and it doesn't suggest which button that could be.

Could you point me in the right direction please?

Plug in the voltage adapter and at the same time press both the Tap and the Hold button. This resets the CPU. It should come to life & show C L in the screen then go to preset "0" this will tell you the reset worked. try that.

This sounds like either a bad jack or a problem with the input signal circuit, as you've stated. The unit will have to be opened up to be troubleshot, but if your warranty or return period is still good, I would get an exchange or the money back and buy another one. Since you've tried other guitars and cords, I'm assuming the problem to be within the amp.
Sometimes jacks can get "sprung", and lose contact, but that's usually after a ton of connects and disconnects. This unit appears to be way to new to be having this problem, so it could be something else in the circuit.
If you can't return the unit, and have no choice but to fix it yourself, you'll need, at the minimum, an ohmmeter, and better yet, a scope to trace out the signal and where it's being lost. A technician should be able to do this, and identify the problem.
Here's Behringer's web support page, in case you need it:

Good luck, and hope this helps.

It works fine for about a few minutes and then the light is slowly getting pale and the sound slowly looses power until it doesn't give any sound at all. Tried a few different batteries, same thing.

Battery is not the problem.
It could be transistors, IC, elco etc. It must be checked.
This electronic parts, could be almost breakdown. At the beginning of the device is turned on, it work fine, but after a while it became hot, then the value is changed, then the circuit was not working.
Can also occur on the DC input, the diode and the elco (D006,C019,C40,C41). View image.

Venturer Tv to Sky

It sounds like your TV is on the wrong input. Look for a button that says input or source. Depending on the TV this will either provide an onscreen menu to select an input or it will simply scroll through the inputs. Turn on the Sky box and run through the inputs until you see something that looks like your Sky Box.

My RCA XL100 is hooked up to cable and works perfectly fine. We've had it for ages and the picture is clear, sound is beautiful, and it gets along fine with my universal remote. There's just one...

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

Before you rate this solution let me know what you find first.

Sony STR-DE925 auto-decode has worked fine for years. All DVD/PS3/Cable is attached to TV via HDMI and inbound audio from HDTV is optical fiber (TOSLINK). Up until today, this has worked perfectly, i.e.,...

OK, so with more troubleshooting, I was able to eliminate the problem with my DE925. It was actually the Vizio HDTV that was causing the problem, as I decided to route the optical audio from my DVD and PS3 directly to the same TOSLINK port on the DE925 and auto-decode worked. It was not the fiber-op cables either. This HDTV was a less-expensive 720p 32" model anyway, so I am not too concerned with the optical out working on it as I can run up to four TOSLINK connections in to the receiver.

TV sound but no picture

Can you tell me which Cable box you are using?Which model/region?

The possibility is that the HDCP handshake could not have happend correctly and hence the issue. Try to connect to different HDMI input of TV from Cable box. If possible change the resolution of cable box and check video

Connecting DVD player to AV receiver

If you've done that already and still no response from your system, I would suggest to take back to the place where you bought it and ask them to check it for you. Tell them that you follow the user's manual to the "T" but still unable to make it work.
Good Luck.

DVD video stops; audio continues

This definitely sounds like a circuit board-level issue. Have you tried moving to a different input set (i.e. if you're now on the TV inputs, try the DVD or AUX inputs for both video and sound)? Just to rule out the obvious, have you made sure that it's the receiver and not the DVD player? I know that you said you powered down the receiver, but if you had turned it off by pulling the plug on the surge suppressor and your DVD player is in the same suppressor, you might want to make sure it's the receiver and not the DVD player.

If you're sure that it's the receiver, then you might want to look into taking it to a Pioneer service center to have it repaired. If it's not worth the cost to you, it might be time to be looking into a new receiver.

No sound when using coax...

Do you use AV inputs for your Cable box? If so, try swapping the audio inputs in the TV, that is, interchange the AV inputs for your DVD and cable box. If sound is audible in a different input, then the Audio input (for Cable) on your TV is faulty. One simple suggestion, Why don't you route your Cable signal through the Tuner of your VCR?
