Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

My Mitsubishi WS-5511 TV will not receive commands from the remote. Remote is working and has new batteries but will not control power, volume channel, device or any other function. Netcommand setting is on TV as it always has been.

The front panel controls work somwehat. You can turn the power on and change channels but the volume will only go up so high and then it resets to a lower volume. The remote doesn't have the functionality to control other devices, as the device function does not work.

    Thanks for your help.

Remote cannot control other devices as the device function will not work. Front panels controls work somewhat. Power works, chanel is able to change. Volume will go up but only so far and then it resets to a lower volume. Thanks for your help. -Gary

Are the front panel controls on the tv working? If yes then either the tv's remote sensor has failed or the remote itself has. Does the remote have the functionality to control any other device, like a DVD player? If yes then is it working fine? Please answer these questions so that I can help you deal with this problem.

Looks like you have a bunch of problems here not just with the remote here. Since this set is about 15 years old, it might not be worth the service charge as you can get a Toshiba Regza and go HD for that price. Don't you agree?

If the tv was moved it may have a loose cable...you can get remotes for way less than that.

My Mitsubishi projection TV will not produce audio or video

Hi,
Two things are involved to cause that problem, tv remote control and remote sensor in tv.
Upon verification of remote working, it would be confirm that remote sensor in tv is defective and need to be replaced.
Remote control sends infra red light signal to tv and we can not see that light with naked-eye, so need digital camera or cell phone camera to see it by watching remote front through camera, press any keys on remote, if you see infra red light is blinking in remote front that means remote is working and remote sensor in tv will be replaced.
If no light blinking on pressing remote buttons confirm that this remote is defective and buy new remote.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

The remote does not work. My satelite remote

There is usually a remote module mounted on the inside of the front of the tv that senses the remote signal. This controls all functions of the tv. If you are not comfortable in troubleshooting this, I would recommend a repair center.

WS-55511 55in volume turns up by itself & can't switch devices

The remote is not the problem. The switch for volume up on the control panel has become leaky. Very common problem for this generation Mitsubishi. If you don't mind not having the control panel working you can disconnect it and the set will work just fine with the remote. To disconnect the control panel pull the speaker grill, it just snaps off, and remove the front access panel. Once that is done you'll see a cable going to the switches just disconnect it.

Tv ws-65511 volume stuck

Did you ever get this problem fixed? Ours just started doing the same thing. It worked fine the night before, but today it's doing what yours is doing. The remote stopped working for the TV. The remote still works for the cable box, but volume and anything related to TV function not. The screen flashes when we try to adjust volume or anything else, but resets to previous volume. TV not responding to any commands either on the front panel or remote.
Any ideas? Thanks, Patti

On these models we have found that a switch is sticking on the control panel not allowing the set to operate properly.
Disconnect the control panel.
You will be able to use the remote on it.
To find the plugs for the control panel:
Remove the speaker grill and front panel, then follow the wire to the connection.

Remember to unplug the set before putting your hands inside of it.

No control of WS-65511

The following solution has been posted in another forum (www.hometheaterspot.com) and it fixed my remote problem:

"...it's possible that one of the front panel buttons is "stuck" or shorted, and this could cause the TV to ignore commands from the front panel or remote. But this should also cause the Power command to be ignored, too. You might try pulling off the front panel and disconnecting the front panel buttons and then see if the remote works."

WS-55908 remote control

Take out the batteries or simply reprogram the remote by using the manual search function on the remote. There is probably a couple of different settings in the remote for this type of TV set, Good Luck
