I guess you haven't installed the sound drivers yet, if you still have the Motherboard CD, then install it from the CD. If you have problem doing this, I can help you but I need more info, What is the operating system you just installed? What the the Model of your Intel Motherboard? Let me know so that I can help you download and install. Thanks.

I'd suggest using System Restore to fix your problem.

Boot your system to Safe Mode (press F8 repeatedly when powering on). Go to System Restore and choose a date prior to the virus problem. Note: with System Restore, all your updates will roll back to that date. Follow the process.

Hope this helps.

I have cq 45 106au model i recently formatted my laptop ( windows 7) due to virus and now my inbuilt speakers and now they are not working but it works when i connect a speaker externally or a handsfree?...

When upgrading your operating system like windows 7, some hardware driver will be outdated and cause not to ffunction properly. Solution is to download sound driver compatible with windows 7. Otherwise, it will not work properly as you mention. Try to find thru websearch by typing your laptop model number and its free.

sounds like you may have a bug. In most cases an anti virus should fix the prob. However, some will not. in this case you can reload windows and it will fix the prob. Do a full install, not a repair. (formatting the hard drive)

Could be a fan, either processor or graphic processor heating up. Then again it could be the motherboard. Try exchanging memory. If it still does it, make sure the fans are spinning. If it continues, i'm pretty sure you have a motherboard issue.
