Broken Touch Screen

Someone knocked my son's DS out of his hands and it hit the floor. Now the touch screen is completely blank. Is this fixable or is he out of luck? Thanks!

If the warranty is out then you could buy a new touch screen from eBay and fit it yourself if you're technically compitent, just be careful with the touchscreen ribbon cable and when refitting the plastic for the power switch as if fitted incorrectly will break the power switch.

Bottom 'touch' screen not working since son dropped console on pavement from car. If I randomly press the screen, it does start up the console, but only the top screen shows anything, so is useless...

Sounds like both your touch screen and bottom LCD screen are broken, but your back light still works. That is good news, because you can simply buy a kit to replace the LCD screen, the touch screen (two separate kits), and repair the console easily.

sorry to say that your top screen needs completely replacing if it is doing as described!!
the bottom screen and the touch screen are seperate, jus mounted on top of each other, so if the picture works on the bottom then the bottom screen is fine just the touch screen is broken. again i think if the cables/ribbons are in correctly and it isn't responding then it will need replacing!!

Ds touch screen and main screen not working - connectors broken

if you would have sent it to me first I would have replaced the case for you and you wouldn't have had these problems, but I can still help you out. I have a white nintendo DS lite in stock that I had to replace the bottom lcd display in. I will ship to you for $90 and if you are feeling adventurous send me your parts and I will take off $10 since I have no clue what is broken and what is not, but to me it sounds like the bottom lcd, touch screen , and circuit board are trash.
Thanks

Nintendo ds

when u go to settings in the main thing when u turn it on you have to hit the buttons percisely like bulls eye on the dot or nothing will happen.there is another chance that your touch screen may be broken from taping it to hard or doing somthing to it so it may be harder to tap it but if ur screen is broken well.........then if it goes completely out like when u touch it then its broken for sure but that may solve ur problem

Reseating Touch Screen Ribbon Cables

The cable for the touchscreen is one with 4 conductors that connect directly to the overlay on the face of the LCD. The flat ribbon connector on the main board is quite delicate. The three connectors for the bottom screen are on the right side of the component side of the DS phat board. The touchscreen is labeled P6. On the DS Lite, the connector is closer to the R button.

Good Luck

Dark screens

No.. most likely the ribbon cable that connects the lcd screen to the rest of the ds has been damaged or knocked loose. Or the circuit board somewhere has been cracked or damaged, affecting the circuitry that sends a signal to the lcd screen.

Is it under warranty? You can maybe send it back to Ninendo for repair. Or open it and attempt to repair it yourself. Otherewise I'm afraid the DS is just broken...

Sounds like the screen is broken. It may be fixable, but you're likely better off buying a new DS.
