Question about Amana ALG331RAW Gas Dryer

1 Answer

No heat after first cycle

Dryer only heats up for the first cycle then will not heat back up. ignition cycles on and off but but i dont get a flame. If the timer is set on the 'more dry, less dry' cycle, timer will not progress after first flame cycle, I have to manually shut off. On the time cycle, timer will progress and shuts off automatically but of course still no heat after first cycle.

This condition is normally caused by a faulty cycling thermostat. Movement of the timer in the auto-dry mode is controlled by the cycling thermostat. Movement of the the timer in the time-dry mode is not controlled by the cycling thermostat, but by the timer motor.
Below is a link directing you to an enlarged image of the thermostat. You will also find other pages within the website with exploded view diagrams and disassembly procedures, prices and shipping information.

Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint.

I have an LG gas dryer only 7yrs old. Some loads are coming out still soaked after the cycle has finished. I've looked through the back of the unit and the flame is igniting. However, I have noticed that...

i am not a dryer expert,so i can only make these suggestions.
1.make sure the lint filter is very clean.
2.make sure the dryer is sitting level on the floor.(if it isn't sitting straight on the floor, the clothes may not be touching the sensors, causing the heat to turn on & off while drying.
3 do not overload the dryer with wet clothes.
4.pick the right heat setting for the amount & type of clothes.

My whirlpool dryer comes on and runs good but it wont get hot can you tell me whats the problem

Hello there and welcome to fixya there are several things that could make this dryer not heat up
Here are the most common things

Thermal Fuse

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, but the drum
turns, check the thermal fuse(s). The thermal fuse protects the dryer
from overheating and helps to prevent fires. If the thermal fuse is
blown, it will have to be replaced.

Enter your model number to see parts for your dryer.

Help me find my model number

Gas Valve Solenoid

The gas valve has two or more electric
solenoids which open the valve to let the gas flow into the burner
assembly. If the dryer doesn\'t heat one or more of the solenoids may be
defective. If the igniter glows for 90 seconds but the burner flame
doesn\'t light, replace these coils as a set.

Dryer Igniter

If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the igniter might
be burned out. Check the igniter for continuity with an ohm meter. Dryer
igniters burn out over time, similar to a light bulb.

Heating Element

The heating element on an electric dryer can
burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element should be
checked for continuity. The heating element cannot be repaired and must
be replaced if defective.

Heating Element Assembly

the heating element assembly on an electric
dryer can burn out over time. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the element
assembly should be checked for continuity. The heating element assembly
cannot be repaired and must be replaced if defective.

Flame Sensor

Gas dryers have a flame sensor to detect the
heat given off by the flame. If the dryer doesn\'t heat, the flame sensor
might be defective. Check the flame sensor for continuity. This is not
as common as a burned out igniter or thermal fuse.

High Limit Thermostat

Although not common, if the dryer doesn\'t
heat the high limit thermostat can be defective. It can be checked for
continuity. If the thermostat is "open" the dryer doesn\'t heat.

Cycling Thermostat

The cycling thermostat regulates the
temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer doesn\'t heat it may be
caused by a defective cycling thermostat. This is not common.

Main Control Board

The main control board is normally not at
fault when the dryer doesn\'t heat. Check all of the other components in
this troubleshooting guide before replacing the main control board. The
main control board cannot be tested easily and must be replaced if it is
defective.

Timer
The timer is normally not at fault if the
dryer doesn\'t heat. In many situations where timers are replaced they
end up being returned. Check all of the more common components in this
troubleshooting guide before replacing the timer

Replaced igniter, dryer worked great for 3 days, now igniter still works but the flame only stays on for 3 to 4 seconds not raelly heating up the dryer

it can be the high limit thermostat, the flame sensor eye on the burner tube,or the cycling thermostat on the blower housing you can try bypassing the thermostats to see if they are weak, but dont leave them bypassed as they control heat output and will cause over heating if left bypassed

I have a gas dryer, model MDG7657AWW that will not stay heated. Every time I put it on, the flame comes on for about 21 seconds & then shuts off. I replaced the igniter, hi limit thermostat, cycling t

On a gas dryer the heat normally only comes on for 30 seconds or until the drum temp reaches 160f at which time the flame is shut down by the cycling thermostat. The drum temp then starts to drop. When the drum temp reaches 105f then another blast of heat is issued for 30 more seconds. That is how they work. Put it all back together and trow a load in there.

Heats but wont stay heated

If the flame come on to start with, but then goes out and won't come back on I would suspect you have a bad coil on the gas valve.
If you see the flame cycle on and off, but the flame does come back on again this is normal. The flame needs to cycle on and off and not be on steady or the dryer would get to hot.
If the flame is cycling ok and the cloths just don't get dry then you need to check your dryer and vent for lint build up.

Dryer heating problem

It sounds like an air flow issue. There is a flame sensor on the side of the flame housing. If the venting is not sucking the flame down the tube it will cycle very quickly and never reach the right temp.

Kenmore 72602100 gas dryer runs but no heat

gas dryers would have an igniter to start the flame. check it first to see if its still ok. be carefull in handling them, they are very fragile. check also for availability of gas. could have a closed valve.
