Most appliances oof this type have a thermal fuse somewhere in their circuitry that blows is the machine gets too hot. I'd suspect this. It is fixably by DIY types, if you can get into the machine circuitry, but that is sometimes very difficult in modern appliances. A good appliance repair shop should be able to fix it easily.

So I encountered the same. We had a friend over and he did not know how to work it so he turned it on and turned the steam dial to steam and left it. The system over heated and we were scared of how hot it had gotten and turned the steam dial back to the upright position, unplugged the machine. We plugged it in the next morning and the unit will not power on. very sad. This is our 3rd unit (other 2 had issues with leaking around the potrafilter). sad we love the espresso it made, especially since we found an awesome local coffee company. Good Luck all I will let you know what happens after I contact Cuisinart.

Works sporadically

Try this and let me know if it works - plug the coffeemaker in, turn the function knob to BREW, and then press all 3 buttons in the center of the coffeemaker (the 1-4 button, et, etc) and hold them for a few seconds. Let me know if the clock display comes back on.

I can not set the time on the cuisinart dcc-2000

Turn the function knob to CLOCK, then press and hold the HR button for a few seconds and set the hours. Then press and hold the MIN button for a few seconds and set the minutes. Remember, the LCD will show "PM" if it is on PM, but it will not show anything if it is on AM. Once you are done setting the time, don't forget to turn the function back to AUTO-ON, or your coffeemaker will not brew at the set time in the morning.

My Cuisinart coffee maker won't program start time.

Reset the coffeemaker by unplugging it for 20 minutes or longer - don't skimp on the time left unplugged.

Then plug the coffeemaker back in, reset the normal clock. Remember: It will display PM if it is on PM, but nothing if it is on AM.

Then hit the Program button. Hold in the "Hours" button for a few seconds and set the time you want the coffeemaker to go off in the morning. Hold in the "Minutes" button for a few seconds and change the minutes. Then hit the Program button again.

Now turn your coffeemaker to AUTO-ON - it will now go off at the set time.

No electric power when plugged in and turn on switch/cuisinart DC

tried ALL solutions on this & other blogs-even to point of CAREFULLY drilling out plastic to get bit-holder down to the 'MAGIC FASTENER' level and then trying: #10 TORX; ## 7-10 TORX; 'security TORX(with hole in middle) & several other 'secret bits'---ALL TO NO AVAIL !!!!! :0(
then, in SHEER DESPERATION, called Cuisinart @ 800-726-0190 [this is on SAT morning 0915 on 3/28/09] got VERY HELPFUL/KIND/PATIENT rep who was ready to do the " $10 +old one AND $10 for new one" routine, when she said: "Did you try re-plugging into wall socket after 1 hour? That's the re-set time" !!! while she was on the line (they work 'til 1730 EDT on SAT/SUN & 'til 1100 M-F !!!) wife tried this highly-technical/super-secret solution -and- IT #$%^*'ING WORKED !!!!!! ;0) I'm sitting here drinking coffee outta it and posting this solution.

Cuisinart DCC-2000 12-Cup Coffee Maker shuts off after brewing

Turn the function knob to Auto Off
Hold down the hour button til you see the clock display blinking
you can then use the Hour and Minute buttons to program how long you want the coffee maker to stay on.
You can choose from 0 minutes (seems to be what you have it set on now) to 4 hours.

Hi,

When the machine is plugged in, screen will display 12:00.
Press and hold the "HR" and "MIN" buttons until the numbers flash.
Then press the "HR" and "MIN" button to scroll through the numbers.
When the numbers stop flashing, the time has been set.

Hope this will help you.

Coffee brews and then immediately shuts off Cuisinart DCC-1200

To program the Variable Auto Off: 1. Turn the FUNCTION KNOB to the ?Auto Off? position. Press and hold the ?Hour? button for 2 seconds. The clock display will start blinking. 2. Program the coffeemaker to shut off from zero to four hours after brew cycle is finished by using the ?Hour? and ?Minute? push-buttons. (see ?To set the time?)
