Please remember that this is an old fix that will be detected at the next XP update and deactivated - leaving you with only Safe Mode access to the pc. Keep trying to contact HP, you must have a backup solution.

Recovery CD for Windows XP Media Center Edition has error on it...how can I get a new CD? I can't get it loaded...

HI there,

If you go to eBay and type "windows xp media center edition" into the search window, it will shunt you to a page where there is a full install retail disc there for sale now for $55 plus shipping.

If your machine is a Dell, they offer a little known "One Time Only" recovery media replaement for free. Go to this page and fill out the information and for your reason for the replacement choose "Missing/LosIf/Damaged media. If they write you that the machine is out of warranty, write back and explain that Dell has extended this courtesy for years and perhaps the agent should speak with his supervisor. This has worked for me 100% on at least 50 Dells I have repaired.

Startup disk for woidoows xp media edition

Changing your power supply should have no effect on your hard drive's retention of the Windows operating system. At most some OEM installations might request verification of the installation by re-entering the Activation Code which should be on a sticker on your machine, but I doubt that is necessary.

MY WIDOWS XP WONT BOOT IN ANY MOOD

Hey,

you will need a copy of the windows installation cd or the recovery media that comes with the computer.

Ones you have that you have to reinstall windows or restore from the recovery media to get your computer working normally again.

You can also take the computer to a local professional who can install it for you if you don't have the disc.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Looks like you've tried a lot. Try this stuff.

1) Try F11 instead.
2) Dunno. Corruption?
3) chkdsk /f
4) Microsoft EULAs are much less crackable than their software, according to BitTorrent.

If you have the key you should be able to borrow the installation disk. The software will

install with the original key. If you have no other option the software can be purchased

at this link.

I am unable to reinstall my windows copy

Have you created the Recovery CD's? If so, put the recovery CD in the disc drive and restart your machine. Most notebooks start from CD first and then from hard drive. If not, you could change that in it's BIOS. (Press F10 at the moment you see the HP Invent logo).

When the disc boots it allows you to choose from multiple options. Choose the options that sounds like "Restore factory defaults" or something like it.

The D-partition is only used to create the disc and hold info. There is no software there to run for recovery.

I hope this helps, if you need more help just ask.
I work at a company who is an HP Partner so.

Greetings,

DarkNeogen
