I have a Easy Note TE11BZ laptop, it is stuck on Preparing automatic repair, diagnosing your PC, fixing disk errors. Any help solving problem.

Pull the battery, and unplug the power. After about 10 minutes, just plug in the power. Leave the battery out. If it is still diagnosing your PC and fixing disk errors, let it run. These newer, larger hard drives take a long time to fix. I've had some take up to 3 hours.

Unmountable boot volume

If your notebook came with a Windows installation disk, you can fix the issue this way:

1. Insert the installation disk into your CD/DVD drive, and boot up your computer.

2. At the Welcome screen, hit the R key on your keyboard. This will launch Recovery mode.
You should now see a DOS prompt on your screen.

3. Type chkdsk /p and hit Enter. This will launch a utility that scans for hard drive errors.
The process may take some time, so be patient and allow it to do its job.

4. After the chkdsk is done, type fixboot and hit Enter to repair any damaged boot files which may have become corrupted. When prompted to choose "Yes" or "No," type Y for "Yes."

5. Type exit and press the Enter key to reboot your computer.

Assuming chkdsk was successful in fixing the disk errors, you should now be able to boot back into Windows.

If you do not have a Windows installation disk, but have access to another computer with a CD/DVD writer, you can download Hiren's Boot CD to help fix your corrupted boot drive.

1) Download the Hiren's disk image, and follow these instructions for burning the boot CD.

2) To ensure your system boots from the CD you've created, follow these instructions on how to set your BIOS to boot from CDROM.

3) Alternately, you can download a free utility that will create a bootable USB flash drive containing all of Hiren's tools. The above link also provides step by step instruction on creating a Hiren's USB drive, as well as how to set your BIOS to boot from it.

4) Boot the problematic pc from either your Hiren's CD or Hiren's USB drive.

5) Once you've successfully booted your system using Hirens, you will see a menu with a variety
of tools and utilities. Navigate to the hard disk tools menu, and run HDD Regenerator.

You'll need even more patience this time -- as HDD Regenerator is a bit more comprehensive in its error scanning than chkdsk. On the bright side, HDD Regenerator has a reputation for repairing disk errors that chkdsk was unable to.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Boot disk failure no hard disk found

The error means that your system is not able to detect the hard drive on the system, check if the hard drive wire connections are tight and not loose and then try rebooting the system.

Look for hard drive stats on POST whether it succeeds or fails. This is how you can do that.
When system boots up, press the PAUSE?BREAK on the black screen and see whats system comment for your hard drive power test. If it succeeds and your hard drive's connections are also tight then possibly your hard drive might have crashed ( which means there are bad sectors on the hard disk).

Try performing disk checking on the hard drive to see if there are any bad sectors on the hard disk, the disk check will automatically fix the soft errors but if the errors and hard errors in that case the disk checking utility will not automatically fix the errors and you will need to get a new hard drive.

Thanks !!!

My laptop gave me no problems except for occasionally going into hibernating and not being able to wake it so i would have to manually shut it down and turn it back on. but last week i dropped it and...

The BIOS update could have caused the unit's fan regulation to fault.

the check disk and actually fixing errors woudl point to the Hard Drive being damaged and needs to be replaced. A full diagnostics is what needs to be done to determine this, i would tell you how but multiple hard disk brands are used on these systems.

The BIOS update may have also changed the performance settings on the unit, this will cause the system to use the CPU maxxed all the time. This will kill the battery quicker. You can check this setting in yoru BIOS.

Maxtor 160gb External Hard disk stoped working

You're probablly SOL but-
Check your hard disk for errors
You can help solve some computer problems and improve the performance of your computer by making sure that your hard disk has no errors.
  1. Click on start, then computer (or my computer)
  2. Right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check, and then click Properties.
  3. Click the Tools tab, and then, under Error-checking, click Check Now. getcontent.aspx?assetid=18abb370-ac1e-4b6b-b663-e028a75bf05b&documentset=en-us&renderkey=signed1 If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select Automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will simply report problems but not fix them.
To perform a thorough disk check, select Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. This scan attempts to find and repair physical errors on the hard disk itself, and it can take much longer to complete.
To check for both file errors and physical errors, select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
  4. Click Start.
Depending upon the size of your hard disk, this may take several minutes. For best results, don't use your computer for any other tasks while it's checking for errors.
Note
  • If you select Automatically fix file system errors for a disk that is in use (for example, the partition that contains Windows), you'll be prompted to reschedule the disk check for the next time you restart your computer.
