Question about Brother MFC 490cw Color Inkjet Multi-Function Printer

The printer will not print. after i changed the cartridges. can not get it to copy, print. anything involving the ink.

Hello

While the Brother printers are simple to use, there are still a few mistakes that can be made or steps overlooked that might cause the printer to malfunction. If you've set up your printer and placed the ink cartridges into their proper place but the device won't operate, troubleshoot it yourself instead of taking it to a repair shop.

Check the ports and connections from your printer to your computer. Make sure all wires are properly plugged and all ports and jacks are free of dust and excess material that might interfere with the connections

Check that all drivers are up-to-date on your machine and that there have been no software errors that might keep your printer from running. This issue can usually be fixed by reinstalling software from the disc you received with your printer.

Look inside the printer to be sure that it is free of anything that might disrupt the moving of the internal mechanisms of the device. Clean your printer head. Most printers have a maintenance option that will do the task for you, but you can also clean your printer head by hand, should it be necessary

Check that you have removed the plastic tab that sticks to the ink cartridge before you try to print. Use the correct ink cartridge. Do not attempt to use a brand of cartridge that has not been specifically made for your machine, even if the cartridges look similar in size and shape.

Look to see that the lever that depresses the cartridge into the well has been returned to its original position after inserting the ink cartridge.

Do you get the lines when copying only or when printing as well? If you only have the issue when copying, then the scanner part of the printer could be the problem. If the issue happens when both copying or printing, then the issue more than likely resides with the printing mechanism of the printer.
I'm not familiar with this printer model, but here's a few things to check:
  • Remove the ink cartridge and re-seat it into its cradle. While it's out, make sure there's no left over tape covering the nozzle of the cartridge (like HP cartridges have).
  • Epson ink cartridges include a microchip inside them that monitor the ink levels of the cartridge. Once the ink gets below a certain level the cartridge will no longer work. If this is an older cartridge, the issue could be resolved by getting a new one. If this is a brand new cartridge, it could be that the cartridge is faulty or that there is an issue with the printer itself.

I replaced the printhead back in january, but did not use the printer. it has been packed up until now. i replaced the ink cartridges and put in the new print head. but cannot see the text or anything...


It is not clear which print head you changed. some time the printer, if it has 2 different print head, for black and color, you may have to try changing the black print head.
But before doing all that , make sure that the ink cartridges are full.
print an alignment page and then try to make a standalone copy.

clean the ink cartridge with lint free cloth. Also check the preview of the text before printing.

You may also try to do a complete uninstall and then reinstall of the printer driver.

Canon MP140 fails to print


I don't think that has anything to do with reaching the board of 5000 copies. Your cartridges have no chips on them or anything. You might actually have a problem with your black ink cartridge, as the printer is telling you. Remove the black cartridge, gently wipe the contacts with a dry cloth and put it back in. Hold the "resume" button (triangle in circle) for about 10 seconds to try and reset your cartridge. If none of that works, I suggest you buy a new black ink cartridge.

Replace Ink Cartridges
Your Epson Stylus NX110 Series and its software will let you know when an ink cartridge is low or expended.
If ink is low, the ink light flashes. You can continue printing until a cartridge needs replacement.
If a cartridge is expended, the ink light stays on. You must replace the cartridge to be able to print.

Warning:
Keep ink cartridges out of the reach of children and do not drink the ink.
Note:
If you need to change a cartridge before it or any other cartridges are low or expended, run the Ink Cartridge Replacement utility.

You cannot print or copy when an ink cartridge is expended even if the other cartridges are not expended. Replace any expended cartridges before printing or copying.

Leave your old cartridges in the Epson Stylus NX110 Series until you are ready to
replace them to prevent the print head nozzles from drying out.
When an installed ink cartridge is more than six months old, you may need to replace it if your printouts do not look their best, even after cleaning and aligning the print head.

"check print cartridge was flashing, so I changed the ink, but it still is flashing. Also, there is an "E" across from the copies button. I disconnected it from the computer and "check print cartridge...


hi, is it hp ink cartridges? did you refill cartridge or replace?

press cancel button, then on/resume. if no change. make sure all tape, paper is removed from ink cartidge connectors and there is no dirt, smudges or adhesive or anything else that may interfere with the connection. reinstall cartridges. if still no change, power off, then disconnect power. wait about 5 mins. reconnect and power on. this should reset the printer.

Red will only print on test page.


So what you need to do is clean the cartridge from the printer toolbox..do all the three steps cleaning..(clean cartridge,prime cleaning,intermediate cleaning)..
once the cleaning is done..try to make a copy..if its still the same..change both the ink cartridge and then try to make a copy..if it resolves the issue then cartridge is defective..if it does not resolve the issue then printer is defective..

i was having these same exact problems then i looked at my old ink cartridge and saw that the blue tape was off and that i hadnt taken it off my new one i was trying to print with.!!!
